*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N86 8MP

I did it with Nokia Ovi Suite, I told a Rogers tech rep about all of my concerns, so they're sending a replacement out. However they do say if there is nothing wrong with the original phone i will be charged?!

Yeah, I would have loved this phone to have been in the N85's position a year ago when I was shopping around then. I don't really use phones for webbrowsing or watching video (I don't travel too much, and when I do I bring a laptop) so the screen resolution is good enough. For now anyway.

In the future I'd love to see something with the N97 slideqwerty+touch form factor, the N86's featureset (plus xenon, if we're going to dream), and with a key layout that makes mobile gaming feasible. I'm too old to carry around a DS or PSP anymore, but it's nice to get comfortable with a little Tetris when you're standing in line at the bank. That's part of the N86's appeal for me.

Yeah, just updated too.

The only thing was it didn't turn back on by itself like it was supposed to.

But everything saved across the update like it was supposed to. Love the new focus thing with the camera.

Nice that they let you remove that ovi chat from the homescreen.

Do you see a "my nokia" icon in the apps menu? Wtf is that?

Wow the videos came out really well. I love the solo in the beginning of Master of Puppets part 2 where Kirk uses a harmonizer. One of my favourite solo's of all time! Thanks for sharing the videos! :2thumbs:

In what way is the call quality worse? Reception? Sound over earpiece? Quality of sound to your caller?

Also, how does the N86 do in noisy settings? Does it pick up and overamplify a lot of background noise? I've found a lot of Nokia phones to not be very good in this respect.

My N86 has yet to lock up on me, but then again, some of you guys may be rougher on your devices than I.

I have hotmail setup on my N86, and it seems to be working just as good as it did on my E75: works well unless there is an interuption on Nokia's end.

Which is why I don't even look at the BGR site at all anymore. I liked that pic you posted of the N86 until I saw the mark of shameless fanboyism on the lower left hand corner. They should let their readers exude that rabid fanboy or fangirl behavior on the comment sections instead of showing their true colors in their writing. BGR is the worst offender I've seen. I mean, look at his posts about anything T-Mobile or Sprint and you get the feeling that a piece of him died inside trying to write about it.

I have to agree with this, although the xenon lights up a room when it is blown up to any type of level beyond 640x480 u can see the digital artifacts and noise.
I have seen many pictures with regular stand alone cameras from cyber shots to fujis that i am totally underwhelmed especially at night, my wife is pregnant and we have so many baby shower photos, and let me just say this no one, not anyone had a dslr so why the comparisons to a dslr are beyond me, but everyone had a canon, fuji, sony little digi cams and because of this forum and you guys i am so sensitive to the quality of photos and i am very underwhelmed with night shots as a whole. :buddies:

Has anyone figured out where the antenna is located in this phone?
One of the few things i hate about the E71 is that the antenna is in the bottom, and you can physically smother the signal with your hand.
It's got to be one of the dumbest things i seen nokia do to date.

The iphone 3gs has an object specific autofocus. Does the n86 have that? Also, when shooting a video, the iphone lets you focus on any object you want.
