*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N86 8MP

Is it okay to keep doing that? I've already made 8+ phone calls to rogers in the past 2 weeks. Will they blacklist or penalize me in any other way?

Fast. No lag at all.
Also I don't know if it was the theme or what, but the screen was a joy to look at. If only it had a bigger display it would've been perfect IMO.

Well, to begin, for me at least, FP2's support for WebDAV, Nokia Messaging built-in (purportedly), same form factor as the N95 but slightly slimmer and with a better (apparently) keypad, OLED, faster USB transfers, and OTA firmware updates without losing user data. Basically, an N95 plus.

Not having physically tried the N86, I can't say for certain, but I think this button issue is probably an important factor in the shakiness of some of your images. I got a similar effect with my 6120C because of a hard plastic case I was using with it for awhile - I had to push in further and my finger had to go into the hole in the case over the camera button to take a picture. It was very difficult to hold it steady this way, and I got much better pictures after removing the case.

I know the 6120C's camera is nothing like the N86, or N82 I have now, but the quality of the camera or lens can't overcome a shaky hand (assuming no image stabilization). It will be disappointing if the N86's button becomes an issue since the N82's camera button works like a charm.

Best Mobile Imaging Device: Nokia N86

The new Nokia N86 8MP, with an f/2.8 Zeiss wide-angle zoom lens and an 8MP sensor, represents a new step forward in that specific segment. The device sports centre weighted exposure, 1/1000 sec. shutter speed, multimode flash and several scene modes with macro down to 10cm, not to mention advanced communication and location technologies.

Man I can't wait for news on the NAM version...as much as I like my iPhone i'm getting sick of apple and at&t's ********. If only I had the money to get an iPod touch or a zuneHD on the side too :(

That's good to hear. It must've been the one that I was checking out. And it's a big concern so that's why I asked people who already have the N86.
Hmm, faint scratch lines on some keys, that can't be good over time. I would keep an eye on that.

Well there is new information, THETRUTH gave me information about a code to get money off of the preorder so I call them and man what a joke, I tried to pin down when I could expect it if I preordered because of all the previous disasters of preordering from Nokia, and I was told that it could be sometime NEXT MONTH that I COULD get the phone, asked about the 15th and the 22nd and they knew NOTHING about that but said that it would be DOUBTFUL at best!!!!! MAN I AM STARTING TO REALLY DISLIKE NOKIA and all their runaround that they give!!!! :disappoin

I think it will be able to be had for $450 or below rather quickly.... and yes I think the n86 seems more worth it than the n97. N86 has a better platform - s60v3, has newer technology - 8mp camera, etc.... The hardware looks like nokia's best slider by far.

Its a nice review, except for the incomplete camera review.

Quote "We'll look at the rest of the Camera application and camera peformance in more detail at a future date. To kick things off, in the next few days, we'll publish a brief photo comparison, which sets the N86 against the N82, N97 and i8510, specifically testing out the crucial low light and night scenarios.

The N86 has a "Third generation dual LED flash", meaning that it's brighter than previous units, but the proof will be hopefully seen in our test photos and ongoing detailed review. Nokia continue to persevere with dual LED technology rather than Xenon for their flash units, quoting size and power efficiencies - you'll have to wait for our tests to see any illumination penalties incurred."

Hopefully we can finally see some real world comparison shots
