My question was if I used, say, the firmware for Latin America (LTA) or Australia, which is still for RM-485, will that give me the feature to disable the shutter sound, since some firmware has this feature and some doesn't, depending on the region of the world. So I'm still wondering if that's a possibility.
Well define 'laggy'. I do agree with you on the memory management and battery life, though. I'm sure HTC can do something to improve battery life besides releasing an extended battery but it seems like they choose not to. Or maybe I'm missing something.
Who cares about HD? A majority of the world still doesn't have HD and by the way, it's a phone and last time I checked, Samsung still made terrible ones. Instinct and Omnia anyone?
I seem to have a constant data stream going (the two reverse arrows under the 3G logo) and I can;t seem to figure out what is on? I was attempting to sign into Nokia email, but I deleted my email account and signed out. Where to look as I have no current apps open?
UPDATE>> ok so when I went into packet data and disabled highspeed data connection and then re-enabled it it seemed to clear.
Ok nope, it came back on. What gives? Should highspeed packet data be disconnected?
well i figured since there's nothing OFFICIAL about either color, why would we know the exact date for white? all we know is nokia is predicting mid-august for the n86 nam to drop. no exact dates for the colors
EDIT: ignore my rambles, MOE gave some informative feedback. thanks Moe!
Can anyone who has the phone right now check this for me? It's a bug on the current N97, just want to know if it happens on the N86 too as I suspect it's a general OS issue:
- The bug that occurs after hooking your phone up to Ovi Suite, the default messaging memory gets changed to C: if you were using the Mass Storage. A little annoying when using Free iSMS. This also happens after hooking up the phone to your computer through "Mass Storage" mode.
I am getting the impression the N86 has been discontinued. Odd as the N85 is still available. Oh well, guess we have to move on, seems like a very short life for the phone. Glad I got my replacement for only $330 right before amazon quit selling them. Its a good phone, much better then the N85. Lets see if the N8 really has what it takes for me to stick with Nokia. Sad to see the T9 slider die.
Yeah, my slider is fine. A little play when multimedia keys are out, but that's it.
As for the n82 to n86 question. Definitely. Feature pack 2, much nicer and bigger screen, usb charging, and camera. Plus it looks nicer and has the gaming keys so playing games on this phone is perfect. I had my n82 for just under 2 years and thought that the n86 wouldn't be much of an upgrade, but definitely is.
So I guess it's not clear what's Nokia's future plans are on this. A comment on the article says that it was pressure from network carriers that caused Nokia to drop this.
Sigh. Thanks for letting me know. It's funny that some people are getting the keypad tone and GPS issues with v20 and others are not.
I guess maybe when I get the replacement I won't update the firmware and just wait for the next version. I'm not really sure what to do. It's too bad you can't downgrade. It would be nice to be able to try a firmware and see what it's like and then switch back if you don't like it.
What about other people with v20? Do keypad tones on the numeric keypad work? Does the integrated GPS work?
I don't understand why it's not out either since I'd love to get my hands on one, but what I can say is that the 3GS is a fantastic phone....I upgraded from the 3G and it was so worth the upgrade just for the added speed. It makes reading web pages and doing tasks so much better.
Congrats on the weight loss. I know how challenging it can be as I lost 35 lbs a couple of years ago and have kept 25 of it off. I will check out your site for sure
