*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N86 8MP

They can, they did with N97.

I don't see anything worthwhile on N95 that I'm missing from N97 and see lots that I would miss backsliding that way. :buddies:

mobilecityonline.com has it listed for the 28 of september.

This may also explain some of our confusion.
Looks as if the originator of the 22nd rumor was thenokiablog.
If you re-read his post i quote "shipping to US retailers on August 22nd"
I'm guessing to retailers does not mean to consumers.
Which would leave my dissappointment of today, as my own damn fault.

I wouldn't say that my 9700 is perfect as it does drop the connection several times per day, but it does reconnect on its own.

What I cannot understand is how nokia can release several phones that are essentially the same phone as the n95 (incl all the n95 variants, n85, n96, e71, e66, etc) and they all always have the same bugs! I have had bluetooth issues consistently with every nokia phone since and including the n95.

Sorry for derailing the thread, this discussion has already happened many times before.

I just ordered one from Amazon a few hours ago, and I'm fairly confident it will be the right version. As I've mentioned before, Amazon has a great return policy if it's not as advertised (it mentions 850/1900/2100 UMTS on the page).

And now the waiting game-

So you're saying the memory card has faster speed? My memory card is class 4. Also does anyone know if this device will be supporting 32GB SD cards in the future?

Maybe a few days now since that article was made on the 30th last month. Better image and videos, faster speed, and bugs fixed sounds good to me.

To bad you had a poor experience. I am sure a Current Nokia N95 v32 or whatever they are up too would take less blurry pictures. However its as good if not better then my N85 and overall the camera in the N86 walks all over the others. Low light is great, the flash is surprising. At a party the other night my girlfriend and I were both taking pictures, her with a canon sd1200(in pink of course) and me with the N86. Not only was the N86 faster, but out of all the pictures hers had the most blur. We did not use the E75 as its not even in the sam league picture wise. Now had I been using the canon powershot there would be no blur, so it really comes down to the photographer. With the N85 I had to totally change my grip to counter the hard shutter button with the N86 one finger on the shutter one on the bottom is all it takes to come out with blur free pics 90% of the time. Sorry to hear you dont have a similar experience. However with firmware updates its obvious this phone will demolish all of nokias other camera phones. The hardware is already the best and the results show it.

First one is of my ceiling fan on high speed in pitch black only the N86 LED flash. Other two are in very low light no flash.

The camera sensor is so sensitive that it has raised the brightness in the room by at least 3 clicks. that door actually looks the same color the walls are in the photo, the walls are even darker.

I just got off the phone w/ Nokia Sales (nokiausa) with whom I placed my order. I pre-ordered on 8/24/09.

The guy on the phone today said the N86 will be shipping mid-October.

Needless to say I'll be calling first thing Monday and cancelling my order. How stupid is Nokia anyway?

Wirelessly posted (Opera/9.60 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/4.2.13216/608; U; en) Presto/2.2.0)

I think the keypad may be what puts it over the top since many people aren't fans of the N85's keypad.

thanks for all the info Nikki.

I was very reluctant to move from my n82 to the n86, but the pictures you posted have made me feel a little better. hopefully a couple of firmwares will fix the little bugs and tweak the camera color/white adjustment too.

I may have to rethink my next phone.

I thought pixon had a 28mm lens also? This is what gsmarena says.

Pointless to compare the v11 firmware. But would love to similiar daylight shots as the ones in gsmarena with the pixon at 12mp and 8mp. Have no doubt the pixon would win, since it has more mp. But at 8 I bet it would be pretty close.

Regardless, very satisfied with the n86 camera and video abilities. Along with everything else it can do.
