I think you're absolutely correct.

I'll be getting an N86 within the next month or so (I currently own an N85) but I'll be the first to admit that there are many other phones out there that will do the same job.
 
bright light doesnt work 100% properly .. to turn off the led you have to open and close the camera shutter...

and often you have to start the program twice before the led will turn on...
 
I took two pictures, posted them to Pixelpipe, and immediately afterwards I discovered that both pictures had 'spawned' lower-resolution thumbnails of themselves in the 'All' section in Gallery. Could Pixelpipe be the culprit? Do you use Pixelpipe on your N97 too, Mike?

Is the scroll wheel D-Pad on this model like the N81, N85, and N79?
 
In its simplest form, The best camera phones to date have had xenon flash. This is fact. If someone produces a better camera phone that can take better pictures in all light, Great. Time will tell.
Based on your comments it seems you would do away with all flashes on camera phones. Your argument is founded on an LED flash system that has not been produced and even more important, not used in real world situation. We dont know the costs related with your suggestion of LED or the cost/complexity of shutter and mechanical changes that you suggest for camera phones.
My argument is based on the phone that I have in my hand, and the fact that it does what I want it to do, partly because of the xenon flash. Its that simple.

Why do you think Nokia did not release the N82 with 3G. After releasing 4 versions of the N95 (now five with the n85, and six, the n96, and soon to be seven with the n86) why did they leave this one feature off this phone, I doubt that the 3G radio would have changed the size of the n82, yet it would have enhanced the use of this phone extremely. Makes no sense to me. That is why it would not surprise me if nokia released its new imaging king, that took worse pictures than its previous imaging king. I have history on my side. You have a report on an LED system.

I also noticed that you don't list a current phone in your signature. Just curious, what phone do you use. Do you have any experience with the N82??
 
It's an American thing. Same thing with the Japs. I think it's due to voyeurism. People taking pictures up girl's skirts stuff like that. On the other hand, Europeans with the N86 can turn off the camera tone. I think the newer iPhones make the shutter sound too. Correct if I'm wrong. Eventually all newer phones will have the shutter sound that you cannot turn off depending on location.
 
Ok guys I just got the Rogers N86 a day and half ago.

It was working beautifully out of the box, and then I updated it and added my contacts, still flawless.

However in the middle of the day the phone crashed and it would not turn off, I had to remove the battery.

Ever since then, the phone has become slow. and the camera/video is very glitch and grainy. Before an on/off a test video i took looked like it was recording at 10frames per second.

And everytime i turn the phone on an off, the screen lags like chunks of the top would fade and show the previous standby screen AFTER the nokia/rogers splash.

I have done a reset already and restore, but no dice.
Sometimes when I access the camera it just hangs black.

I've already used the phone for more than 30 minutes, so will rogers still replace it?
 
It has the weight and feel of the 8801. The slider is good, but because of the dual slider not as solid as the 8801. I would rate the build quality as very good on the N86. So far I really like the phone. A big upgrade in build quality of my N82.
 
i had bought one from amazon originally and i remember being impressed at how stable and quick it was. i was so let down last night when i got a brand new rogers unit because it runs so slow! I have finally got it set up the way i want but the new email client still runs a little slow
