Stefan Constantinescu
1 hour agofantastic! we're all in

E66productmanager
1 hour agook...

Stefan Constantinescu
1 hour agojust curious, how will the lighting system work around the navipad. meaning assume i missed a call or sms, how will that blink versus the typical "breathing."

E66productmanager
1 hour agobreathing is slow and elegent and received messages will blink faster.

symbianguru
1 hour agoAlso, does the E66's GPS and camera support geotagging out of the box?

E66productmanager
1 hour agoUnfortunately no..

symbianguru
1 hour agoIs this planned to be added via firmware, similar to how the N82 received the feature later?

Stefan Constantinescu
1 hour agocan you upload some photo samples from the camera to share on ovi?

symbianguru
1 hour agoWhat is your favorite thing about the E66? The part that you're most proud of?

E66productmanager
1 hour agono plans, however there is an add on application for S60 to have this .
1 hour agounfortunately no time to upload images.. you can check from Nokia.com about product images

tjgillies
1 hour agohihi

iglu303
1 hour agotons of images available @ share on ovi http://share.ovi.com/channel/Conversations.NokiaE66

E66productmanager
1 hour agoI like the most the 2 home screens. Design is great

tjgillies
1 hour agoi like the E71 qwery = good

symbianguru
1 hour agoAre the shortcut keys user-configurable out of the box? I.e. if I use Profimail instead of the built-in Email client, can I change that shortcut?

E66productmanager
1 hour agoyes, only home screen button is fixed.

symbianguru
1 hour agoawesome, that's good news.

E66productmanager
1 hour agogood

Stefan Constantinescu
1 hour agowill there be a 2.5 mm to 3.5 mm adapter in the box?

symbianguru
1 hour agoWas there anything that you wish'd you could have implemented, but simply were not able to?

E66productmanager
1 hour agono . you can purchase it separately
1 hour agoE66 is a perfect as it is

Ravindra@Symbian-Life blog
1 hour agoWhy did u think that Auto rotation is needed for this?

E66productmanager
1 hour agoone more guys...

Ravindra@Symbian-Life blog
1 hour agoya i'm bit late i guess

Stefan Constantinescu
1 hour agodoes the E66 have the same type of predictive text that the E71 has where you can select a word from a drop down?

E66productmanager
1 hour agolandscape display is great for e.g watching videos in full screen

Ravindra@Symbian-Life blog
1 hour agoindeed but for a business device?

E66productmanager
1 hour agono.. we have ITU keyboard having T9 functionality and having a bit different functionality
1 hour agoit can be used in whole ui..
1 hour agoemailing....
1 hour agoi need to go... see ya ! E71 will continue...

symbianguru
1 hour agothanks for spending a few minutes with us!

iglu303
1 hour agoThank You so much!

E71productmanager
1 hour agoHi, E71 Product manager is here now.

Ravindra@Symbian-Life blog
1 hour agoHi

symbianguru
1 hour agoHELLO!
1 hour agoWhy was the decision made to not have a dedicated camera key?

E71productmanager
1 hour agoWe don't have dedicated camera key as it did not fit into this concept.

1 hour agoCamera can be used with scroll key and the 'T' key can be used for auto focus. Very handy!

symbianguru
1 hour agoso the shutter is separate from the focus button?

Ravindra@Symbian-Life blog
1 hour agoThe scale down of the size from E61 to E71 ,has its issues with the keypad size isn't it,So do u think its convenient enough for all users?

E71productmanager
1 hour agoyes, it is separate. shutter is the scroll-select key and focus is T-key. It can be learned quickly.

Stefan Constantinescu
1 hour agocan you please make an option so autofocus and shutter key can be a single button press? in a future firmware.

symbianguru
1 hour agoI can't say I see that being handy, but I've not used the device personally, so we'll see.

Are the shortcut keys (other than home) user-customisable out of the box?

teamet
1 hour agoI was wondering wether the e71 actually has the accelerometer but just not the flip screen function? Can you decline calls by turning the phone like e66?

E71productmanager
1 hour agoThere is intelligent input for qwerty which is capable to auto/complete and auto-correct the words. based on usability tests it is really fast and error-free.

symbianguru
1 hour agoand does the E71 support automatic geotagging with the GPS and camera?

E71productmanager
1 hour agoE71 does not have accelerometer.
1 hour agono geo/tagging included.

symbianguru
1 hour agothis new email setup wizard - when will it be available, where, and will it only be on the new Eseries, or available for all?

Ravindra@Symbian-Life blog
1 hour agoWhy did u think to include that bottom metallic part,is it solely for the design or any other use?

E71productmanager
1 hour agothe bottom is not metallic, it is plastic. back cover and frame around device is metal.

Ravindra@Symbian-Life blog
1 hour agoany way whats the use of that,it seems like a separate part

E71productmanager
1 hour agothe new email set up wizard is available in e66 and e71.
1 hour agoOne touch keys can be customized otherwise except Home key.

symbianguru
1 hour agothat's good to know. Thanks for adding that functionality.

E71productmanager
1 hour agothe bottom part is ment for operator co-labels - that is why it is separate.

teamet
1 hour agoIn other qwerty phones the z-key is below the s, but not in the e71? Is it on purpose you brought this 'flaw' onwards from the e61(i) ?

Ravindra@Symbian-Life blog
1 hour agothanks I was very curious about it

symbianguru
1 hour agoWill the U.S. 3G variant hit the market at the same time as the other variants? (Or is at least planned that way)

jeffreyjmark
1 hour agowhen will ghe 371 become available

E71productmanager
1 hour agoUS variant will hit the market also in July.

jeffreyjmark
1 hour agoE71 sorry

1 hour agoso e71 will be avaiable in july

symbianguru
1 hour agoThat's great to hear, as well. Good job not leaving us out over here.

Ravindra@Symbian-Life blog
1 hour agoUnlike on E61 there aren't any gaps between keys why is that will this effect in the typing speed?

E71productmanager
1 hour agothe qwerty layout is optimized for this size and we want to have there as many buttons as possible. that is why the layout might not be totally same as in laptops.

jeffreyjmark
1 hour agoin US and other countries?

Stefan Constantinescu
1 hour agowhat FP2 features will be back ported to this device? i know transitions are one feature, but what about the new access point management system?

E71productmanager
1 hour agothe new E71 is 57 mm narrow only, i.e. remarkably smaller than earlier devices. but thanks to intelligent input the typing is extremely fast and error/free

teamet
1 hour agoDoes the GPS support TMC via the radio reciever, otherwise or at all?

btw 57mm --> job well done!

E71productmanager
1 hour agotime for last question... i need to go...

symbianguru
1 hour agoWhat is your favorite part of the device?

Ravindra@Symbian-Life blog
1 hour agoDoes this Include Quickoffice pro I mean the full package ?

E71productmanager
1 hour agoquickoffice pro package is included, i.e. editing possibility is there. My favorite part is absolutely the nice small pocketable size and design!!

iglu303
1 hour agoTHANK YOU LONDON UK & BOTH PM's! Good Stuff

1 hour agoalso some other video material will be posted as well

Ra
1 hour agoSweet! Does my login for this also allow me to add it via Ovi? Same login? sorry I'm VERY new.

khouryrt
57 minutes agohm @ravindra thanks for asking about the bottom part of the e71, it's been annoying the heck out of me, for months

symbianguru
54 minutes agoI think it's just area for them to stuff more 'guts' in

Ra
49 minutes agoCool, great Q's Ricky.

Man I'm glad the US variants have the same release timeline. This Q&A is very nice & cool - DEFINATELY good for Nokia & us end users.

Product Managers - future question: will Nokia begin to heavily invest in advertisement on these two? They have great ability to challenge the BB Bold, and others. Where can I get the cosmopolitan-like Jazz music from the E71/E66 Presentation Videos ... I REALLY like them.

guys how do I know if I am using wireless or GPRS when I am surfing? At times when I was connected via wireless, I could still see the 3G GPRS signal while a webpage was being loaded.

Actually, I just sent myself a txt message typing the entire thing one handed. The phone is small enough that you can do that, you just have to get used to doing the entire key range with one thumb (it'll reach just fine; the hardest part will be teh keys _closest_ to your thumb, not the farthest).

Once I realized it's small enough to do that, I might actually be ok with how small the keypad is. I just have to get past/over the idea that it's supposed to be used with two thumbs.

@jontymisra

Is yours an Asian version? as if so it is a known issue and should be fixed with the first firmware release when it should be added.

@Prom1

The E90 keyboard touching the screen was discovered quite soon after release it didn't take a long time at all. Which is why Nokia stopped shipping them and we had to wait ages for them to be available again.

Part of what you say about being spoilt by using certain devices is true as this is the point i have made quite often. Having owned and used the E90 for so long now the 4" screen is what has spoiled me anything else is to much of a downgrade in the user experience for me now.

The software in the E71 is slightly more advanced then in the E90 with a couple of extra features but the Multimedia performance is due to the OMAP chip more than just different software. It really doesn't matter what improvements they make or add to the E71 they can't increase the screen size or make the E71 match the E90's Multimedia performance just with software.

The E71 is a great business device and much more pocketable and sleek, whilst the E90 is the closer to being a a fully converged device but is larger and is still the Flagship E Series device but then it is both much larger and more expensive.

@xj911

I can't agree the E71 is great but the E90 is still the E series flagship and the E90's Camera is more than just decent in fact it's really good IMO.

Marc

Well I have WLAN scanning set to off and I re-paired the headphones...And I'm still getting the stuttering/breaks in audio.

This is such an utterly beautiful phone that it is going to break my heart if it's not going to be able to play music via A2DP as well as my Samsung BlackJack :(

If this keeps up, I'm going to have to return it :cries:

Mine isn't locking up the phone, but sometimes I have to switch between my contacts list and conversation a couple times before conversation loads. Slightly annoying.

My thoughts on the keyboard is that for me it's the best qwerty keyboard Nokia has designed. I've used the E61 and E90 and both were not as good as this one IMO. Compared to a BB, it's tough to say as I still have to get use to this keyboard, but I'd say I'm pretty close in typing speed between the two. The keypad is small, but because the feel of the keys and the rounded keys, it's quite easy to type on. However, I don't have the biggest hands.

I'm getting a demo (hopefully soon) and have a question about mail for exchange. If I'm the lone user in my company of S60 and Nokia, will my company (already using exchange) have to install anything special or will it work similar to WinMo phones?
