*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia E71

$199 for a 8GB iPhone...

Who can compete?

Look at HTC diamond and their release price..$800 ??
X1 ?? $900-1000 ?

You can all say iPhone is crippled in many ways but for $199, it can't go wrong.

But your still paying for a plan! How long are you going to use it? 2 years? How do you "save" money on getting unbranded, if you are paying for the same plan with a branded device? Unless you are going with some bargain basement carrier that has crazy discounted plans, prepaid, or are not planing to use the cell radios on the device, your going to end up paying for the service anyways! Might as well get the device for cheaper while your at it.

Yes, I get POP3 email. And, I do put the settings in the phone exactly as Yahoo's website states. But, where it says Mailbox type, I cant change it. It says IMAP4. And, I think that's where my problem is, I think that it has to be POP3. But, the phone doesn't let me change it. I'll double check again just to make sure all the settings are correct.

What exactly can Nokia do to market this device better in North America? (other than releasing it?)

Apple has Steve-O to announce his new devices and millions of fan boys touting how great it is...not to mention some pretty decent and recognizable commercials.

If I've seen a Nokia commercial for the states, I sure don't remember it. I think if they don't have a groundbreaking device (in the publics eyes anyway) than they have to produce a hype machine...how they do that is something totally different.

I think maybe a commercial with an upcoming celeb, similar to the Ashton Kutcher camera commercial...maybe Shia Leboob...using the phone for email, MMS sending...etc....I don't know thought I'd throw something out there! LOL

my e71-1 has been shipped from singapore from the seller rose. It sucks though that the est. delivery time is 07/07/08!!! Probably due to the holidays. I am excited! The 25% cashback is the only reason why i jumped on the e71-1 because i'm on tmobile and i'm impatient :) . The only thing that is going to suck about the e71-1 for me is that there is no USA warranty :(

Wow those iPhones have big screens....got to give credit for that, you can do SOOO much stuff on a big ol screen like that. Except send MMS that is. :D

Now, where is my stinking NAM grey E71???

wow.. if they've really removed this extremely useful feature.. it may be a deal breaker for me..

Seems like Nokia needs to LEARN a thing or two from WinMo!!!

Glad I've hung onto the Tilt !!!

Man end of July to buy this phone....so I guess I'll have to wait another month and half....I wonder if Maervo can get us a better update. I'm hoping some retailers will get it earlier rather than later.

I've read somewhere that the screen is 2.36" with 320x320 resolution. This is the main reason why I'm not excited about the E71 at all. That screen is just too small. The whole device is small also which puts in doubt the real world usability of that QWERTY keyboard. Specs are good but the whole thing is just too small for me. After the E90 I don't think that I'm willing to live with a device with a screen smaller than 2.8".

mine for some reason never vibrated at first, but after turning off and on worked, also make sure you don't have it plugged in.

My question: how long before we start seeing software geared toward the e71? Like a designated conversation and handy weather, or virtually any of those epoc apps and nokia designated apps. Anyone remember how long it took after other recent phone releases?

JAF. It's not hard, but I wouldn't do it without confirmation that specific model works.

I would have left it be, but the keyboard layout was obviously spanish. I'd order a spanish key mat, but I have a hard time putting things back together. (The layout is more useful, IMO)

I think the keys are the same size as a BB KB, but more tactile and softer. For avid BB users, it's a love hate relationship (mostly love ). However, the lack of BBC might annoy some users too.

I think it may have to do with the fact that BB run a slower CPU??? If not than probably the OS is doing less in the background and thus draining less batteries. I don't think you can have several applications open at the same time on BB...

It took some time according to the Product Manager..

I was @ the press release.. :hehehe:

TAKE THAT APPLE!! Chocolate is sweeter than Apple.. :clapping:

and geeez.. Who wants to eat blackberries?
