*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia E71

but even if the phone is smaller like a curve, first we have people complain that the e61i is too big. now this one will be smaller, then we have people complaining they want the bigger e61i. you just cant win! actually this is why nokia needs to make more form factor options, cause everyone has different tastes.

Just called...NOT in stock. They will have them "tomorrow or Monday."

I asked "is that confirmed, or is that just what you always say?" She said it was "confirmed that we will receive them tomorrow. If not, then Monday."

We'll see about that :2thumbs:

You whats' funny?? I just did a google for Hosted Exchange mail in Canada and 2nd listing netted me this:

Surprising. the lite pricing really. However, does MFE use MS ActiveSync or OWA?! Is the difference significant enough that 1/other will not allow wireless synching via the E71?!

Also found this ...

I've gotta find out how RoadSync or MFE works; as in what they use to work ActiveSync or OWA's login id & pw??!

Yes...that's true.

why are a lot of people whom wanted the device originally now having second thoughts? There's no other device currently coming out that has all this to offer...except maybe the bold, but its got a 2mpx camera.

Afaik, all the reviews say it's got an amazing battery. You seem to be one of the people that needs to test this out. I'll hold off final judgement until YOU review the battery life!

That being said, I can burn my N95-4 1200mAh battery in about 3 hours at the gym with Sterio Bluetooth, Internet Radio, SIP and constant updating from the N810.

Here's exactly what I did. I composed an email message while the phone was in "Offline" mode. I was in a hospital visiting someone and it had to be off, or so they said. I figured that when I got into the lobby and turned it back on my email would send. Bzzzzzzzt! Wrong. My E71 locked up. Pressing the keys made the beeping sound as if it was responding but nothing moved. The power button was non-responsive as well. I pulled the battery for 30 seconds and rebooted. Seemed fine for about 10 seconds, and during that time I was able to open the main menu and navigate to "Settngs", but when I tried to select it I found it was frozen again. All the while I had the "mail in outbox" icon in the upper right corner of the screen. I repeated the process one more time, only to have it freeze up yet again. The third time I restarted I quickly opened Mail, immediately went to my outbox, and deleted the que-ed email. Everything was back to normal without even another restart.

So the moral of the story is: Don't compose email while the phone is "Offline".

I do seem to recall reading about this on an earlier phone, and it may not have been a Symbian phone. Could have been a Palm Treo with Windows Mobile. I can't recall. I just know now that email and "offline" status is bad?.

How'd that work?

Edit: Nevermind, found it on slickdeals. Dunno if I want to do the cashback thing since I'd have to redeem for more merchandise, plus the "rose" seller on eBay is an E71-1, not E71-2. :(

I need spelling and mostly the accents on my phone. French in Quebec and France is almost the same. It's just that some expressions are different. The "accent" is also different.

I did try to change the product code (0567045) with the help of Doni (I know I shouldn't, but that's the way I am), and it doesn't do anything. After I wrote the new code, the software NSS says that I have a new code but nothing happened after, so I unplugged it. I don't know if anything has changed with my hardware at all. Nokia Software Updater seems to be down (I get Connection error; Service is currently unavailable), so I don't know if it will work or not. I'll get back to you guys tomorrow.

P.S: It says my current firmware of the e71-1 (RM-346) is 100.07.76 tho

Nice mentioning of the BoA access!

I checked just now on my E71 with my wifi connection and find that the Mobile Banking for Bank of America works just fine.

Yeah i know, i know. But it was decided on as the standard probably about a year ago but hardly anyone has actually gone ahead and made it the standard. I remember reading it on Boy Genius Report and Engadget Mobile at the time it was announced.
