*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia E71

Hi all,


Mine was a Made in Finland and the ones made for the Middle East very rarely are in my experience. I would be willing to bet when friedbrains gets his from WOM it will also be made in Finland.

1.Can any picture be set as a Full screen wallpaper?

2.BB will set any pic as Full wallpaper even if you zoom it in, can the E71 do this?
 
just wondering if anyone else has this but the ends of the folder names along the top of the screen seem to be faded out towards the middle of the screen. if i scroll to the next menu item and wait a second the text will look normal. anyone else seeing this?
 
Is Nokia maps good for California on the E71? I'm thinking of doing the PCH this summer and wondering if the lil' towns show up on it.
 
Yeah the white one is growing on me too......something different than all those black phones out there. I bought the Red E90 when it came out too. I really think the white looks quite sharp.
 
So any new news on the availability of E71-1/2/3/4/~ or is it still stuck at Mid- Sept.( Which i find hard to believe)
(I have given up hopes of any official announcement from Nokia)
 
But there are nokia stores like in nyc and some others. I've never had the pleasure of checking them out but they must be selling unlocked devices. Which brings up the issue of the un-informed consumer when it comes to cell phones, the vast majority go with whatever their service provider can sell/lock them into in order to keep their business. They walk into a t-mo/att or other store and walk out with a new phone and 2 year contract extension. I must say that apart from these forums I frequent I do not know anybody who is even interested in getting an unlocked phone and when you start explaining what it is they say it's too much money and they just got phone x brand new for $50 from t-mo and are perfectly happy and I'm the idiot for paying $600 for an n95.(my whole office is full of these people)(I used to show off my phones now I just smile on the inside when some schmo pulls out his iphone all greased up screen and all) I do believe this ignorance of devices for the vast majority will remain in place for years to come. And...why should nokia open stores all over the place to sell product when they don't have to?
