*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia E71

Yeah, and all those spypics were all just good photoshops, right?

It's like the Xperia - all hype after the announcement, and then you've got to wait for three ages until it's really available. An announcement means nothing. The release date is what counts, and I'm fairly confident that the E71 will be out at the very least a month or two before the BB9000...

^^ Quite true. I've found people in the S60 camp to be the ones that really develop creative apps, fiddle with their phones and use their phone to the full potential. In BB world, however, I find average users to live off BBM/Web browsing/texting or just plain Emailing. There are fewer power users in BB land. Atleast thats what I've noticed after browsing thru soo many different forums on Blackberries and S60.

This does not imply that BB's are not good, they are just more "work only" or "BBM only".

Does anybody know if AT&T will put this phone under the Blackberry plan or will they leave it as is now, unlimited media max. This will be the deciding factor for me.

I'm in the same boat as you are CG. I am not a multimedia guy at all...well, maybe a little, but not enough to be swayed by a phone simply because it did video, music or games better than another one. I have gone back to pure-BlackBerry lately simply because they are the very best at doing what they do, and what is paramount to me: being stellar mobile communication devices. The rest is simply so much foo-foo to me, honestly...

I will probably snag the Bold as well...but if I can get over the intimidation I have truthfully felt over the steep learning curve of the Symbian 60 OS in the past (N95, E61i...), I might try the E71 because it is a very sexy, very cool little beast. I really, really, really like the use of metal on the phone as opposed to so much plastic...so, I might try both phones before I plop down my dollars. ;)

I hope the reports from Kevin over at Crackberry.com and others about the Bold feeling plasticky and cheap are resolved with the full-production model.

haha at least you admit you are a victim of the cycle. :)

I know I am too. But I can honestly say I'll be passing on this phone. I love my n95-4 and I don't think I could downgrade the camera as that's one of the most important features in a phone. I thought about the n96 but there really isn't that much of a difference from what I have now to make me jump for joy......yet. I think I'll wait for the next NSeries device. I do want to see one of these bad boys when they come out though.

I'll come to the defense of the N95 here, the one I had was plenty loud. It was more the size and style of the phone that I didnt like. Both my N series were loud and clear.

ill let you know on wednesday if i actually got it "overnight" or not, as i just ordered one from her just a second ago.

and yes, 25% cashback is still working!! :2thumbs:
