*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia E71

Hey, sorry I gave you the wrong info. There is an icon you can set in your astnby screen if you want. It's the "mode" option. Look and you will find. I think you can set it to one of the soft keys to get your one button push or one of your other function keys also.
EDIT: After checking it out it seems the best you can do is get it down to 2 button presses.

When you place the E71 on a flat surface you can use two fingers for typing and it is surpising how quickly you can type in this way - nearly as good as the E90 ;-)

A little off topic and quick questions.

1. Is there a new E71isk device on the horizon? I mean basically an update?

2. Has the camera improved with firmware updates? The one I bought when it first came out was horrible.

3. Has the GPS signal strength improved as well?

Thinking about picking another one up....so these answers would help. Thanks

You've hit the nail on the head there. Up to this point, Nokia doesn't seem to have well thought out product launch strategies at all. Hopefully they will change that, at least for their higher end phones.

Is there a way to start the phone in safe mode?
I installed Yelp 1.0 and BrightKite and now when i go to my install folder it automatically runs the first prog in the folder..but won't open otherwise. I'm going to update the software (i haven't updated since I got the phone because of the un-hackableness but i think there is a method to hack the newest firmware) and i have everything backed up. I just wanted to write a list of the programs i had installed..for later reference.

I seriously doubt that. I've bought plenty of phones from overseas (asia) and they work perfectly fine here on 2100MHz 3G networks.

I'm surprised the 850/2100 model is constantly referred to as the Australian version - there's only one network here that uses 850, although it is the largest. The rest use 900. Surely Nokia wouldn't release an extra model just to satisfy us... there must be another country out there using 850.

Speaking of which - why are nearly all the ebay auctions selling the 850/2100 version?

To be honest, I can't remember WHEN I've ever used categories on a smartphone...ANY smartphone (and I've used a lot). I'm more likely to use name/number searches. It's just faster. Nokia's "groups" seem to be better geared towards contact HANDLING rather than contact sorting anyway, more like an AD security group. Thought being able to set those groups up in Outlook would be nice, I'm not sure they'd end up with exactly the same sorting I use in my desktop Outlook.
