*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia E71

How many text messages do you have stored? I found when I hit 1300, it would stop showing.

Try to disable the AS plugin, reboot, re-enable it and reboot. See what happens.

Some things that I found interesting...switch mode, which switches the look of the home screen. Business to personal is what mine is defaulted as.

Advanced call manager...ability to blacklist callers, sms, and act as a answering machine...not sure if this is available on any other than the e66 but correct me if I'm wrong.

Well the BB excels at ease of use for messaging and sync with Outlook.....as I said it before, BB excels at syncing everything including categories and contact pics.

S60 is great because it offers the best of multimedia and business together. However, if the BB comes out with a great camera and music player. I think I will be back to a BB. Sorry, but one press to get to everything like creating a message, contact search in phone mode, having IM run in the background without draining huge amounts of battery, and I love the phone being able to dial extensions by itself, and a host of other easy features make the blackberry a good device. Not the prettiest OS, but good for use.

However right now it's still the E90 for me until that happens....that's why I was hoping so much for the E71i to be announced. I'm sure it will be the E90 in a lighter form factor.

You mean this? :hehehe:

@clumsythief

If you used NSS and it now shows a new product code obviously it has worked, but nothing will change until you run the Nokia Software Updater and load the new firmware for that product code. But NSU does not always allow you to re install the same firmware you may still have to wait until a new firmware is available before the changes will take effect.

The screen seems just as clear or more vibrant in the display. However, those that are directly upgrading from the E-61i to the E-71 will notice that only 1 line of the most recent Email is displayed (not 2 like the E61/i), same for Calendar appointments: both on the active standby home screen.

I perfectly understand how the BES works, especially how MDS allows for Intranet sites, access to corporate servers (using the native browser on the BB, or by specifically created app), etc. However, I'm not versed in how the IPSec would work on BES/MDS - only because the company I previously worked for didn't have this setup. I'm not a BES admin but I troubleshot as best I could with 2nd Level access on the BES (Jr_Helpdesk_Admin access). Access to the MDS was restricted or to the BES Controller and a few other subcomponents also restricted. Access to corporate servers; are you using Citrix/Oracle/SQL/Unix/Data Warehouse access? I'm very curious your line of work or need for this - you don't seem like an end user working for the corp on a BB, but an admin using a BB keeping parts of the corp running FOR the end users ;). Another topic for this I'm sure.

Personally I'd LOVE the Bold! I'm currently eyeing the E-71 specifically to avoid high data pricing model for unlimited browsing & email & 3rd party net access. But so far its a pipe dream on Rogers. Sure the arguement can be made to use WiFi just like I would on the E-71; however if I had no need/experience for learning the BB platform (work) I'm sure I wouldn't even pay attention to the Bold.

Late this year, when MIDP3 is incorporated on MANY phones (RIM has already approved the current spec) THEN we'll see some serious power & changes in how we use apps - especially on the BB as its core design is on CLDC/MIDP.

I was quite bothered by that too when I got the e61i. But the e61i suited all my needs, so I just learned to live with it. If I had 2 numbers for a contact, for the home line I would just have "John Smith" for the cell I would put "John Smith's cell". I know it may seem stupid, but what other option is there?

:crying: Woke 07.30 and have been using wifi browsing for 5hours with music playing in the background, sent some texts, viewed my gallery images, installed some apps and battery, music has been playing non-stop since 0730 and battery capacity is still at 60percent 4bars. And before anyone says it, no my phone is not offline. What has one to do to kill the battery-beast. I like to do 3 full charges and 3 full empties to conditon the battery. At this rate its going to take several weeks. lol

That's hard to say since nobody I know has tried out the new 4.6OS. Hard to judge when I haven't played with it so I'm going to wait. I like s60, but there's a lot of shortcuts and business friendly operations that is in the BB...similarly WM has similar user friendliness. Just sync for example is better in RIM and WM than S60...also on screen layout is better on RIM and WM....For contacts you can't even see all the information if for example someone's email address is long...you have to open/edit to see the rest of it...

There's a lot that's fishy about it generally, although the photo is fairly convincing (despite being unfocused).
I mean 2.36" screen ?
Since when were screen sizes quoted to two decimal places ?
Certainly looks bigger than that.
Generally raises more questions than it answers.

Yes there is an option to set the breathing light to what indicators, but the color remains white. I believe the pulses are the same. Slow when on standby and fast rapid when you miss anything. :P
