*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia 6650 (RM-324 6650d-1bH) NAM 3G 850/1900

I wanted to try internet radio on my phone without adding nokia internet radio. I just got mobbler and I started a radio station. It starts the first one on the playlist and then skip to the next, and then the next, and then the next without playing anything (I have no headphones connected to my phone and I don't have an sd card yet -i got it today-) what could be causing this? most people say mobbler works on the 6650 fine.

Don't forget, the battery has been more than doubled, it's smaller, with metal front and back plates. While those seem insignificant, they make a huge difference.

FP2 also has a handful of benefits over the N75 (specifically if you have a 'tab-top' one) that make it worth the $70. If you're used to the N75, the 6650 is an improvement in every single aspect, aside from the FM radio (which you admitted you don't use anyways.)

mrrphone, thank you for the tip. I installed JBakTaskman because it seemed more powerful, but some of the features didn't work on the 6650. I uninstalled that and installed PowerBoot. Autostarting KeyMapDaemon is awesome.

ah okay. Did you install using Ovi Suite with your phone linked through USB? Because I don't have a micro USB cable :( Maybe it will install via a Suite, but not from the phone?

oh and I have a question. I've been seeing videos and reviews of people with their at&t 6650s that mention actual built-in GPS that can be utilized based on the application requiring it. Does this phone have a genuine GPS receiver or is it only A-GPS? I know Google Maps doesn't pinpoint my location as it would with real GPS, but I read somewhere that the at&t branding makes some apps able to access it and some apps not.

Yeah that happens to me like everyday... I think they all do that because the new one that I exchanged it for does it too... That's part of the reason that I've decided to return mine...

Yeah I'm trying to accept it for what it is... I wish it was better but it is what it is... I'm getting used to the keypad although I liked my 6267's keypad better... I try to keep as few programs open at the same time as possible so as to avoid crashing... Opera Mini works pretty good on it, although they did put some restrictions on it which an unlocked phone wouldn't have... It would've been nice if it came with a PDF reader pre-installed but that's the beauty of S60 I guess...

So, you're gonna sell it then?... Is the 2 year contract worth $180?... I'll let you be the judge on that one... haha... I'm gonna see how it goes... I might just keep it for the music player, but I'm pretty bummed that Skyfire doesn't work on it... I wonder if they'll support it sometime in the future(?)...

Oh yeah, here's another gripe... it doesn't read Chinese/ Japanese characters, whereas my 6267 does (since it was made for Singapore or wherever)... that kinda sux too...

On the positive side, I suppose it looks kind of cool and I think it supports up to 8GB (or is it 4GB?) memory cards... and at least it has a US warranty... the GPS navigation thing is kind of cool but since I live on an island it doesn't really do me any good since I know how to get everywhere... it's got a bunch of other features that I probably won't use... I wish it could do video calls instead of just video share... the jury's still out on this one folks... :silly:

Smooth - I updated from 1.02 to 3.01 using the European site updater. I didn't realize I had never updated to 2.0, I've been reasonably happy with my half-priced promo AT&T/TeleNav used in conjunction with the ancient Garmin unit I prefer to use anyway, but this should be good, should the Garmin ever die, and I want to try an alternative to Telenav's (Java-based) CPU/Data/Memory-hungry app!

FWIW Ovi is data-heavy too, the first A-GPS fix took FOREVER, and it goes off and gets busy trying to download 'Updates' (Voice, Nav, Traffic) WAY too often for my liking. Isn't there a way to turn ALL that stuff off (yet still download maps over 3G) so I can play with just the interface and decide if I like it better (as a free alternative to Google Maps, or as a paid alternative to TeleNav)?

To answer my own question, one thing that's new is the fact that you can't use the 'hellocarbide-rompatcher' combo anymore, so they applied some S60 patches for sure. I had to use the newer 'helloOX2-rompatcher+" method to make it work.

Question: is it not possible to use smileys on this phone? On my old 6131 I could insert smileys into text messages....or is this another case of S60 being inferior to Series 40 phones? :)

Guys, it's a pretty cool phone..I got mine two weeks ago..here's the lowdown:

PTT available but sucks, I wont pay for that crap (button on the same side as volume rocker)
GPS works GREAT with Google Maps, it even shows traffic
RF is awesome in my area
Speaker volume is just fine, handset volume is really loud
Ringer tones are plenty
Very branded by At&T, almost crippled BUT:
I installed MagicKey and remapped the GPS button which I would hit all the time by accident. Now the button does nothing but I can remap it to Google Maps or something. I disabled the PTT button on the side and disabled the camera button.
There really are no other restrictions on the phone
Camera is 2MP, I don't usually take pics but I tried it a couple of times and it works fine
Battery life lasts forever, I am a heavy user (text, gmail, talk all in 3G mode) and the battery lasts 48 hours, I never turn my phone off
Keypad is rather annoying since there are no markings on it, I have to watch my fingers but it's getting better

Overall I'd give the phone 9 out of 10
I got mine for $20 after mail in ($70 minus $50 instant savings? I think the chick behind the counter liked me or something)
$220 at Best Buy, no contract (DO NOT give them your number. They'll say they just add the phone to your account in case it gets stolen or lost but they actually extend your contract w/o telling you)

Hope this helps

Under options in the Music player there is a Refresh library option perhaps that's what you need to press. I did not. I just took the memory card from my old Samsung Sync, pooped it in, and everything showed up.

Edit: I can see in "Music library details" that the last refresh happened on 12/13
