*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia 6650 (RM-324 6650d-1bH) NAM 3G 850/1900

Try a Motorola 2.5mm one... it worked for me... Or just go to the AT&T store and try the different ones they have there, whether it be Blackberry or whatever... I wrote about this in an earlier post... Odd that Nokia wouldn't include one in the box and then it's not compatible with other Nokia headsets... If anyone knows of a Nokia headset that's compatible, please let us know...

I was in the ATT store tonight looking at the 6650. The screen looked really dim compared to my 6126 and E51, even with the brightness turned all the way up.
Is that normal or............. ?

Finally activated the newer sim card and wow, i'm getting 3g connection and full bars (was using my old 64k cingular sim card).

i've modifed everything to my liking now.. and with newer wallpaper and ringtones, it's awesome.

HOWEVER.. i did get a random restart! somehow the phone was on power save and i heard it restart while the screen was tinted black (the screen was too dark to see). so i had to restart manually. it may be due to the open applications that some of you are experiencing. i'm hoping it's just a hickup.

Well Opera Mini is a Java program so it's working no problem (except for the stupid permissions thing)... Skyfire is an S60 application... I was just checking out the Skyfire website and it was saying that it works on S60 3rd edition, but I think this phone is S60 2nd edition, if I'm not mistaken... so I think that's why it's not working... either that or the phone model is so new that it's just not supported yet... either way, it sux and I'll probably end up returning it (but I have 30 days so I'm gonna play around with it first)...

Someone pointed out an app over on symbian-freak called powerboot. It will let you autostart the KeyMapDaemon that is needed for MagicKey to start working on boot.
This works for me.
It is apparently also possible to autostart apps using JbakTaskMan, but I didn't try that way.

Weird, I think mine read the music off the card fine, although I only tried a couple songs as a test. Are you trying to use the onboard music player or just going straight to the memory card? I first went straight to the card with file manager. Later after I uploaded music to the card with the Nokia software I had to refresh the music player through the options menu to get it to find the songs. Something that I missed in the instructions and frustrated me for a good five minutes. Maybe there's a different procedure for a unlocked phone???

I agree with you on the price though, it's not exactly what I had in mind, but I really didn't want to spend $99 on a new phone, and I got something with built in GPS and music player, never mind the huge battery. Still, life would've been a lot simpler if they would at least give you a USB cable in the box. The only one I could find the day I bought it doesn't work and I didn't realize the one I ordered for $5 off the net last week was coming from Hong Kong! :bulging: I mean, you get a free cable with almost every printer or peripheral you buy these days, we've all got a few laying around. All they'd really need to do is throw in an adapter. Oh well, at least I found a place with some cool free themes the other day http://www.symbianthemes.us/nokia_6650/

RC - any idea how to remove those AT&T-installed apps that I'd never use? There's a ton of them ... "The Buzz", Yellow Pages, Weather Channel, Diner Dash 2, Midnight Pool Demo 2, Mobitv, Tetris, XM Radio, Music ID (without FM radio I sure don't need this), etc, etc.

Thnx

Ok, first the easy one. Under Menu->Messaging->Messages->Options->Settings->Other I have a Memory in use item that allows me to select phone memory or memory card.

For the Drives, I have the C:D:E:, and Z:. D: and Z: are some kind of Ram drives and don't do anything for you, what is there doesn't matter. Space on C: is phone memory, space on E: is memory card.
Running Jbak Taskman, I can give you some data to compare.
On my phone this i with just the Idle Screen and Missing Sync running in the background.
Use Taskman's Menu->Tools->System info.
I show:
Memory: 16.5M/57.5M (this is ram)
C: 22.4M/41.0M
E: 522.2M/955.7M
CPU: 192 MHz

If you are using Magickey to disable the camera button, did you hack the phone?

I think I know the answer to this question - but I'm going to ask it anyway. I can't just copy the FM Radio *application* from my N75 to my 6650 and get it to work on the 6650 ... can I?
