*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia 6650 (RM-324 6650d-1bH) NAM 3G 850/1900

This may sound weird, but has anyone else noticed the metal parts of the case becoming...magnetized? There's been a couple of times I've been able to stick hair pins to it and shake it without them coming off.

Yeah, normally something like the Mini would be right up my alley with the big touch screen, but you can't beat Kinoma Play and Coreplayer on the non touch S60 devices. That said, I may also just wait for Sony Ericsson's Symbian phone, the Vivaz Pro, the one with the qwerty keyboard. I read it's due sometime in Q2, which would put it sometime in the Spring.

Wirelessly posted (neuro-devixe: SAMSUNG-SGH-A867/A867UCHJ3 SHP/VPP/R5 NetFront/3.5 SMM-MMS/1.2.0 profile/MIDP-2.0 configuration/CLDC-1.1 UP.Link/6.3.1.20.0)

i really wanted to get this phone myself.

after closely following this thread, i decided against it.

i got the eternity instead, and could not be happier. 3.2'' ts, blazing fast data, and ok ui. limited apps, but you can't have it all.

This phone kind of sucks. Crappy camera, crappy software, small amount of ram, low call volume, and large amount of att crippling. I can't stand using a crippled phone. 3g and battery are good and I think that's about it.

Why the hell can't I download anything with the browser? The download screen flashes for a split second but nothing happens. I can't download with opera because the stupid phone won't let me set the permissions correctly. If this is att voodoo I may throw this phone through the window of an att store.

I am not able to switch on my 6650 cell phone. I tried changing the battery, using another battery charger. Also I checked if any of the keys are stuck- it looks none are. Has anyone faced this problem before? What did you do to start the phone? Please help me to solve this issue.

Got mine! Thanks for the headsup.

Now I can afford to wait for a satble N85-NAM or a cheaper N96 NAM!

S/W version V 03.25 dated 1/10/08 & Type Designator RM-324
Custom version 3.25.01, but this seems to not have been messed up by AT&T that I can observe so far. I activated the AT&T Nav 30-day trial, will post my impressions separately. Overall, I'm happy to be back to Symbian after my (admittedly annoying) N75 died months ago! Now to see how well the Nokia PC Suite can 'restore' my N75 settings, apps, contacts ... to this!

I got one recently. I have to say, for the frist time, I made a call from the back aisles of my local grocery store. None of my previous phones including my beloved Nokia E71 couldn't do that. The RF is classic Nokia it seems. Also, as somebody mentioned, the build quality is awesome and the battery life is exceptional.

I am not a big fan of the keypad though.

Hello All. Picked up this phone a week or so ago and so far it is a keeper. Previous s60 was an unlocked/unbranded e61 which was a great phone when it was first released. My only real gripes so far are the inability to uninstall the att bloatware and installing unsigned apps. Applied for a dev cert so gripe two should be solved but have there been any updates on gripe one? I've read the entire post and have searched the forum but must have missed it if there is a way...

Thanks.

I agree with everything you're saying... I had the same problem with Opera too... I returned the thing cuz I was so fed up with its sub-par performance... If you want to download using Opera, you have to click "Open" instead of "Save" I believe... then it'll open up the wap browser and download with that... remember you have 30 days to make up your mind...

Glad you got it going, burnte - nice catch mrrphone!

I also use the Google Mobile App that looks like a Google Search page that will remember previous searches (and can access your current location to do Local searches) and provide shortcuts to launch common (and obscure!) Google apps, natively (as in the case of the installed GMail, Maps or Youtube apps) or via the AT&T Browser (stuff like Orkut)

BTW, I hate the new traffic overlay colors (too dim) in the the new GMaps 3.20 - they don't work with the el cheapo screen of limited brightness in the 6650. Very unreadable. Ugh.

Moto is in financial trouble while making good build quality phones in terms of fit and finish. Nokia is not doing too bad financially while making phones with questionable fit and finish phones. Go figure.
