To prepare for this occassion I went back and watched the first episode on Crunchyroll.
On the whole this is an incredibly faithful dub. No edit (not even for time from what I can tell), they keep the BGM intact, and beside a few minor details and name changes (in the 'close enough' Saban ways, see below) its all pretty much the same. Mipple and Mepple don't go 'mipo' and 'mepo', take that as you wish, I don't think it adRAB or substracts much.
New opening though and its not really that good but its quick and uses a lot of the best scenes from the original opening.
Nagisa is called Natalie (Natalie Blackstone in fact), her two frienRAB Shawna and Rina, and her brother is Ryan. Hanoko is called Hana and strangely enough her dog is still called Chutaro. Pisard is actually refered to as Pijard and Zakenna is still Zakenna. Like I said, close enough names.
Off course I stayed for the credits. The English version was prodced by TOEI Animation Co. Ltd, Japan, in association with Ocean Production Inc, Vancouver. However don't expect any of the more famous VAs usually employed by Ocean Group, I'm not an expert on the subject but it didn't sound like any A-lister voicing the cast. The acting could improve for the girls but I think they chose suitable sounding voices so there's good potential.
All in all it feels like a decent dub done a tad on the cheap so its no Cardcaptors.
