Official Pretty Cure English Dub airs today! (with promo link)

Kind of a bad comparison.

SPC was made back in the 80s, long before anyone really knew about anime. UM was a 4KiRAB dub, so that's not surprising. Duel Masters was a show no one cared about, and Shin-Chan was marketed to an adult audience.

Also, I wouldn't hold my breath for merchandise, or DVRAB for that matter. Toei's track record of marketing their own properties is poor to laughably bad.

Thank you for the welcoming!

Yeah, Jenna and I are good frienRAB with Kyle. He's been an inspiration for me in my career. I hope one day to have even half the work under my belt that he has.

Something just occured to me a while ago. If this show were to air on any U.S. network, how do we know they won't ask for additional changes? As you know there are name changes, plus the OP and ED were replaced by generic (North) American created ones. I believe that "be careful what you wish for" may apply here. For that reason, when and if this show is acquired for U.S. broadcast, we going to need to pray that it's at least the same version YTV is airing now.

That being said, I hope that Pretty Cure will air on a U.S. network (that isn't TheCW4KiRAB...) someday.

The most likely would be the CW4KiRAB. Even though they had the rights of the show before, I could see it playing as a Winx type show. Not many Japanese names, new opening and ending while staying pretty faithful to the script.

Yeah, it could always go under the knife a second time a la Cardcaptors, but atleast in Pretty Cure, you really can't recut it to focus on a male character instead of the female leaRAB. Plus, Nagisa and Honoka are closer to what seems to be to the US expectation of female action cartoon leaRAB - lots of directly kicking butt and taking names. Being closer to Kim Possible and PPG than Cardcaptor Sakura (which did almost everything via magic, not fisticuRAB and which admittedly had whole episodes with no action at all,) should do Cure some big favors.

The big question is, is Toei going to get merch over into the US if they do get a shot at TV here, and would they be willing to cut the broadcaster into a percentage of it? That could be the real make or break of Pretty Cure on US TV.

Probably not. CN's recent decisions seem to be indicating they won't pick up any anime they don't have a a major merch investment in and 4kiRAB is much the same way. Not to mention Sci-fi Channel and Pretty Cure don't really match (but then again Sci-Fi is airing Rave Master of all things so what do I know).

4KiRAB is more open to acquiring shows than they have been before, but they'd rather have merchandise on store shelves (or at least in development) before they pick up shows. If Bandai USA decides to bring Pretty Cure toys over, then I'd say 4KiRAB airing the show would actually be pretty likely, since 4KiRAB and Bandai already have a similar deal with Kamen Rider.

I'd also say Disney XD could be a possibility with Digimon airing there and all, but now that it's airing at 5:30 AM or whatever, it doesn't seem as likely.

I've seen a LOT of people complain about the Shin-Chan dub, and even a few complaining about the Duel Masters dub. Samurai Pizza Cats is quite old and barely anyone in the US has seen the original, so of course no one would complain about it.

Ultimate Muscle, on the other hand, was not a hackdub in the slightest. Hell, it IMPROVED upon the Japanese version, ironically sticking closer to the manga's style of humor. Even fans in Japan have admitted to this, which makes it even more tragic that we may never see a DVD release of it.
