... I have explored my 3200 and can find no way to establish PIP. I checked the spec's on Dish 322 IRD ... PIP is not mentioned as an available feature. One feature that I like is the TEXT search feature, similiar to Directv IRD's ... very handy ...

... 3200 works just fine on one [1] LNB ... as a matter of fact, mine ran for 4 days before I hooked up the second LNB to this IRD ... Even the people at Bell World were selling 3200's to people who only wanted one more IRD ... at the price during F&F ... $89 for 3100 or $119 for 3200 ... must people were going for the 3200. I just tested my 3200 on 1 LNB after a hard reboot ... works fine.

You have a one year warranty.... if it's past it then tell them everything was fine until the latest upgrade... you may have to fight a bit, but I'm sure they will send a replacement free. Maybe tell them to set your unit back to the old software version before the upgrade, they will say it's not possible and then ask for a replacement free of charge.

They won't charge if there is nothing wrong with it... they are a big company and will not bother to keep track of that trivial information.

Yes, I'm currently using a Dishpro Quad with a 3200, 3100 and 6100. It's working just fine.

I'm looking to buy a 3200/3220 system. I am already a sub so the 3200 alone would probably be better. I spoke with Bell today and they said they are all gone but I'm hoping someone can tell me of some place that may still have one left. I'm out west and so far the local Bell Worlds I've called don't seem to any but there must be one sitting somewhere.
If anyone has seen one recently please let me know!

I'd also consider buying a used one...

Well, even with the new update I still keep having the same problems with both of my 3200's.
They both loose sound when taping (only happens when the Canadian channel picks up the US feed)
The one reciever always resets itself when you turn on the second tuner.
So in my case not much has changed from the previous version except now I can get my local weather.

you're going to have a hard time finding one... they had alot of problems with them (software related) and stopped selling them... however the 104 update seems to have solved all my problems. I would look on ebay for one...

Input1 and Input2

I have BEV 3200 with 1 LNBF with 2 inputs. The Receiver has Satellite 1 and Satellite 2. Do I have to connect Input 1 from Lnbf to Sat1 and Input2 from LNBF to Sat2?

Thanks in Advance.

You must have some form of aerial plugged into that antenna socket, or you will get nada

Even when I hold remote very close to sat receiver, I found you need to have aerial

If you cant find the one supplied, get a $10 UHF/VHF aerial from Walmart, and plug it in (UHF)
This significantly improves reception over teh supplied aerial anyway

Andre,
Did it take the update?
Are you coming from v103 or v104

in the past, I found this receiver slow to take updates at times - I actually put hours in to the v102 to v103 issue, spent multiple calls on phone to Bell - eventually they shipped me a replacement IRD
By the time it got to me, the non-updating receiver had actually updated (1 week after convincing them I needed a replacement) !!

Yes v103 software fixes alot of the problems with the IRD hanging. Mine seems to be running great now.

One thing I noticed is you have to connect and keep connected both LNB inputs. What I noticed when I had just one connected, because I was just using Tuner 1, was sometimes it would flip to the other input looking for a satellite signal. The 2 LNB inputs don't seem to each be hard wired internally to just one tuner... There is just one main processor in the 3200 (yes I opened mine up!) and it's processing both video streams from the 2 tuners at the same time. So having no signal on one will cause problems.

Finally got V107 downloaded. It took some patience (5 phone calls) with the techs at Bell and finally the intervention of a Level 3 technician.

I don't know what they did from their end but from my end I had to:

-disconnect the two inputs from the dish
-reset the box by holding down the front panel button for 10 seconds
-reconnect the two inputs
-within the menu system, reset the receiver to factory defaults
-on the point dish screen, set satellite to 82
-turn off the unit from the front panel.
-wait about an hour for it to complete the download

Each phone call involved a different set of steps to try to get the receiver to download the software and this was the only one that worked.

Thank you for the info. I will go ahead and purchase one of these LNBs. I do not understand why Bell does not sell them. I accidentally come across this type of LNBs.

I ran into this exact problem. When I went to do the initial install/activation the receiver would not download the initial "software" update needed to initialize the receiver. So I temp. rigged a second input to LNB2, let the receiver download the necessay updates, and then disconnected the second lnb. After that it ran fine with just one tuner. I am using an old dual lnb I got with my 2700 way back when so maybe that has something to do with it.

Anyone notice a new problem with v107? I use alot of event timers, and when the machine turns on there is no sound until I change the channel, normally not a problem, but when the event timer turns the machine on I get whatever I am recording without sound! I have checked all connections, and the other night I left the tv on with the receiver off to see if it would turn and no sound, and it happened, machine turns on to correct channel, but no sound. I'll try a couple of more times before I call again, it could have been weather or something unrelated, but I am not optimistic.

PS VCR and tv recording are through the RCA connections on TV1, I haven't tried the VHF channel 3 yet, or tried tuner 2.

Is there are trick to getting the 3200 to take the update
HAve tried it several times with mine, by turning off both of the dual tuners, using each remote

Then I leave it - but nothing happens, even after 24 hrs

(With other receivers, you just turn it off with the remote, usually leave it for less than 10 min, and hey presto!)

Any ideas
Jeff

BTW I do have "automatic updates" set to "on", but I believe this effects only EPG download with the 3200

I've never heard of that. That's a bis disappointing when comparing that nice unit to the aging 3100. The 3100 will be discontinued in the summer and be replaced with one which is currently called the 3101 (also cardless).

Still no update.

As for your timing issue, I had a similar problem.

I would record black for hours, so to combat the problem I put a timer event to tune in a different channel a 1/2 hr before my first show I wanted to record.

Wakes the unit up.

A.
