Well I've had it with my 3200. For the last month or so it freezes up solid at least once a day and on bad days it's once an hour.

I phoned Bell and they're sending me out another one to replace it. Hopefully it works better than the last one.

Has anyone here had at least a decent experience with theirs? Or are they all lemons that you have to learn to live with.

I might bite the bullet and get a 9200 soon even though my RPTV isn't HD. It would be a reson to upgrade.

Hi, Has anyone noticed that the menu is slow on the 3200 with v103 software? While watching a channel and then pressing the Guide button once, it takes about 6 seconds before the guide is displayed on the screen. Also, scrolling through the guide is much slower when compared to my 6100 or 3100. The wife and kids have been complaining about this for a while and now and now I believe them!

I guess another call to ExpressVu tech service is in order. I'll ask about the next version of software as well.... If I get someone who knows what they are doing that is....

Receiver was working fine for months with V103. V104 downloaded a few days ago and I now have the problem with the remote and having to reset the receiver every morning to get it to work. Just got off the phone with BEV and went through their procedure to set up my box to receive the V107 update. Supposedly will have the update downloaded in 30 minutes. I'm expecting to have to call them back because it didn't work.

My 3200 took a week of rebooting and crashing before it took the 103 to 104 update. I just left it alone and didn't use it for the whole week. When I finally gave up all hope I found it one morning updated. Now that the 107 update is out I'm guessing it's going to be the same rollercoaster ride!

It's not the software... it's the hardware! This is why Bell stopped selling the 3200's. Dish in the US has the same model known as a 322 and they had all kinds of problems with it too.

Falcon - do you have the release version? Current version = V102GEHD

BEV just replaced my 3200 due lockups and that's the version they pushed this morning to this new IRD. As well, I have several friends that purchased 3200

BEV told me to update go to 616 and enable then just let it happen, just freezes and I have to either disconnect or re-boot. Ist tech said new version is 107 then last one said its 105. They said they would replace my 3200 with 2 new receivers (3100's) but I use 3 TV's with this system. Is the 4100 any better than the 3100?. I am still under warranty and this is 3rd unit!!

Arrgh!!! I'm never going to be able to record, bad enough I get VIP on spike instead of what should be showing....grrrr,

My 3200 is still at V104. Anyone else has this old version running ? I saw that the current software for the 3200 is V109. Is it for all 3200's or only for selected ones ?

Its been a few weeks now and I'm really enjoying this unit.

I programmed the vcr the other night and now I can tape the shows I want.

Semi tempted to find a 2nd remote so I can control the other reciever down stairs for dual watching :)

I have locked it up once or twice. Pain when your upstairs.

After 2 hours on the phone with level 2 and 3 tech support, they said that v105 should be out by mid july at the latest which will fix the event timer not working problem. Has anyone managed to get a free hardware upgrade or a decent credit out of bell? this is getting ridiculous that after 5 months of problems I'm still not getting the service that I'm paying for.

For what its worth, here is what was tried.
round 1
setting to transponder 13 on 91 and 82
power cycled with no sat feeds
re-established sat feeds
overnight
no update taken

round 2
restored factory defaults
power cycled with no sat feeds
re-established sat feeds
hours waited
no update taken

The one that worked for me and I do not know if it makes any differance was a mixture of yours it was:
The tech first removed all sat feeds(Programming)
then I restored factory defaults
and then asked me to set transponder to 13 on 91
then had me remove sat cables and pull power cord on the receiver
next was plug in receiver and connect sat cables.
He then said that he would call back in two hrs and he did. While he was telling me this the receiver switched on and I told him so he said "Thats OK it will go out in a second" and it did. It did not come on till I switched on the receiver, and all has been well since then.Hope this helps.

Still no go for me - have tried the various tricks listed above

glad your 3200 is updated, but you got to wonder whether it was that specific procedure, or that they had you trying a number of procedures which would possibly work - eventually that combo worked, but it might not be the only scientifically valid one

A couple of questions for you?
CAn you remember what channel you were on?
After reconeecting the two inputs, at least my 3200 quite quickly "knew" it had a connection, and by the time I had come round from behind the TV, it had virtually completed a full guide DL - should I have stopped this?

As a general observation, it is a bit worrying that they want to hand out 3100's in place of 3200's
Firstly the 3100's are now "retired"
Secondly they are not a fair trade in terms of function (altho this is arguable if your 3200 now no longer works well) - in my case I do use the second tuner functionn anyway

Most worrying, it suggests that they see the 3200 as unfixable - I thought Dish at least had their's kinda working - this last update seems disastrous for those who havent made the update, as I assume it is some attemtpt to update which is crashing the receiver

to des68,

I actually have two 3200's - one is mentioned above and is clearly improved

With 102 software, I left my 3200 ON all the time (disabled the guide auto update) and I had Caller ID off
With that, the 102 worked OK, but would download every couple of days, as soon as I tried to use the guide
Note that in that state (always ON) it will not download the 103 update

To update, you simply have to turn it off with both remotes and wait
It was only because I came here and saw there was an update that I turned off the 3200, and then got the update

However with my second 3200, I couldnt get it to take the update.
I would turn it off - screensaver appeared as usual - quite quickly this woould be replaced by a progress bar showing the download. THere is a warning not to interfere with the box in any way. For some odd reason, it seemed to start taking the update much quicker between 5 and 10PM PST - dont know why

with the faulty 3200, the progress bar would go the whole way, but it seemed unable to flash the firmware - so despite repeated attempts, it never took the firmware update

Then ensued about 3-4 frustrating hours on the phone to EXpressvu befoer they agreed to ship me a replacement, which I am waiting for

Theie main suggestions were
1) have 3200 on transponder 11 as it is turned off (500 CNN is on 11) - or they said go to install signal strength screen, change transonder to 11, and turn it straight off.
2) do a reset
3) do a memory dump

I never got to talk to supervisor, but relayed messages indicated some unwillingness to swap
The third call led to a guarantee of a swap, if certain things were unsuccessful.
They were unsuccessful, but the fourth supervisor tried to fob me off by saying I needed to wait another month - at that point I had to get annoyed, and I was given one more hoop to jump thru before shipping

What a silly game!

I called tech support on Friday and asked for a supervisor, was directed to her voicemail and left a message.... No call back yet! Another waste of my time. Man I'm just pissed with this whole experience! If they can't fix this dam thing, then at least give me a couple of 3100's until they do.

I'm not holding my breath for v105, I'm sure it's coming... but it won't fix anything... I want them to prove me wrong! They released v104 and had to pull it because it was full of bugs, I don't think they have a clue what they are doing!
