Aside from advancing tech...

What will manned missions to the moon and mars accomplish that can't be accomplished by cheaper robots?
Because last I checked currently there are still two robotic platforms on mars, one still roaming around doing tests....years and years after they got there. Robots that came at a tiny fraction of the cost of one shuttle mission.
 
why are you trying to stop innovation?? going by that statement we'd still have horse and buggies as main transportation..
 
Here in America we keep the world free....to think, act, and govern exactly as we do.
 
I don't understand this. Unmanned space-travel is infinitely more cost effective. Why send a person to Mars when we can send a drone to fly around it's atmosphere at a fraction of the cost?
 
Unless we're going to start extracting He-3 from the moon, I see no reason in going back there.
 
We've had dozens of unmanned moon missions. They paved the way for men to actually get to the moon. They also cost a gigantic % less in money.

So what is it? Do you want him to spend money and rack up more debt or cut unnecessary spending?

Mars will be around for a while. It's not going any where and we have bigger fish to fry
 
Manned spaceflight, at this time, accomplishes little more than ego inflation.

it's a mission to nowhere.....unlike flying men to the moon and mars....for absolutely no reason. Now that's going somewhere!
