Shu is undoubtedly the most annoying character in the show.

But that's what happens when you take a generic anime hero and place him in a situation far more grim than your generic setting. It's very amusing to see someone who could have walked out of Bleach or One Piece try to cope with a situation that's like a page ripped out of reality in a third world country.

They also cut the part where Sara vomits, chugs the water, and starts crying after killing the guy. That edit really bugged me because the scene is less effective if it shows Sara beating the guy, but not her reaction afterward.

'old' in terms of, it looks old fashioned to me. I don't mean it as in old 1950's cartoons, but old when being compared to some of the bright colored designs of today. I'm used to watching shows that appear to be more recent, since it's only been a few years since I've gotten into anime. For me, it's a different type of 'old'. If you compare Gurren Lagann which is still a fairly recent show, to NTHT, there's a standout difference in the way they look.

The moment Shu and Lalaru walked into that village, the only thing I could keep thinking is "This place is DOOMED". And now that the Flying Fortress of Doom has taken flight... yeah, they're screwed beyond screwed. Way to go to Sis for standing by and letting Lalaru get the crap beaten out of her... So much for that stance against violence.

True, there is, but that's more a choice of art styles. Both NHK and GL are digital productions, so they have a lot more in common with each other than either one does with NTHT, it being hand drawn and painted cells.

Yeah someone that would have walked out of Code Geass would handle things better in this situation. You can't take on a whole organised army by yourself you idiot. They even made things easy for him by placing him in their miltary, there are more smarter ways to take them down. You could still lose, but still better chance than just attacking anybody that does something wrong.

When your in that situation, you have to fight with your head, not your heart.

Ok, I've officially fallen in love with this show. This whole 'hardcore, dark, yet totally real' kind of show is the stuff I can really enjoy. Ya know, gets your heart racing.

I find myself enjoying this way more than Gurren Lagann.

Edit: Aw, damn it! I just found out that this show only has 13 episodes.

I'm thinking he could also pull a Vicious and kill Hamdo, making himself the new leader; if his madness doesn't wake Nabuca up, I don't know what will.

So, I wonder the village is gonna do after finding out about Lalaru. Knowing the wannabe assassins, they'll probably sell her out if things get too dicey, (or beyond that, judging from recent developments).

Well, she did run off covering her mouth... so it was still implied. But, man, that was just... ugh. And the assassin with a bullet in his heart, panting and throbbing? Probably the most realistic death I've ever seen in an anime... really chilling stuff.

Wow, that was a good year for anime when you put it that way. It's unfortunate that mainstream pubs rarely acknowledge anime in their TV guides, NTHT is something I'd like to have read what non-anime fans thought about it.

If you had been sentenced to die, you had better do it and decrease the surplus population.

Dude! Five-second rule!

A nice chat under the stars. And a rose with especially pointy thorns. Oh, he is such the romantic type.

A mightier boosh there never was. Outside the realm of British television, of course.

You aren't considering the possibility that Nabuca's village was nuked shortly after they came and got him.

I haven't seen this one in a while, but if you think what you've seen so far is disturbing, just you wait. There's much more disturbing things to come. But it still is a good series with a decent ending. As to the art style, you get used to it quickly.

SciFi is starting to pick up good series, but their 3-break, no-bumps format per half hour is annoying, as are the popup promos and squeezing the endings. (^_*)

One of the thinks I've notices is that the world this take place in doesn't have much if any UV rays or at least they don't have any noticeable affect on people.

Gosh, the 2nd episode tonight about lalaru and shuu just travelling through deserted deserts, it felt emotional to me. About her explaining her story and about her pendant. I really feel for her.

And the fact that they were almost eaten alive by that giant man-eater plant creature thing ..yikes. Really hope they do not actually end up dieing by the end of the series walking out there alone, one of lalaru's legs bleeding alot if i recall ... etc.
