Nokia X6

nokiapwnsse,
Thanks for the comments on the phone. The videos look, and sound, pretty darn good.

My X6 from Dell will arrive early next week; this will be my first touchscreen, also. Coming from the N82, I'm a little concerned about the camera quality. Even though it has the same 5 MP resolution, I've read the sensor on the X6 is smaller, so it tends to show more noise in poor lighting conditions, and, of course, no Xenon flash. For 90% of what I'll need it for, that shouldn't be an issue. If I know I'll need the flash, then I can always take the N82 instead.

I'm anxious to try the touchscreen interface, and looking forward to just having a larger screen size for Maps, media, etc.

Apart from that it's a bit snappier, has kinetic scrolling in applications. The below is from Dailymobile for the Euro models.

* Browser 7.2
* Flash Video Phase-3 - Flashlite 3.1.7.x
* Gimlet Touch 2.2
* Kinetic scrolling in Appshell (Menu grid)
* OVI Sync 2.0
* Shazam
* Enable Side lock Key functionality during Swipe UI (Calendar/Clock alarm)
* Windows 7 Device Stage Support
* OVI store 1.5.6
* IAD Auto polling
* Quick Office v4.2
* OVI Music
* Cherry v2.1
* Rihanna service launcher
* OVI contacts 1.50.8

How many apps is ur lady running? I didn't realize that she's been using her x6 for her Martini posts on FB. I switched to Skyfire to open FB games and it also seems to take up less memory, Opera mini is a better browsing experience until the memory bottoms out.

In any case, I've been handling my coworkers HTC EVO's and Moto Droids- My x6 and S60 in general is lookin pretty weak these days. Let's discuss over coffee.

After using it for 4 days, here are answers to my own questions:
1) Operating system is quick, native apps are stable.
2) never used any other 5th ed. devices but it's not any worse than my n95. The main issue I had w/3rd edition is all the panning in the browsers, opera mobile has crashed on me already on occasion but other than that, it's stellar.
3) at half what I paid for the original n95, it's worth the $$.
4) Best:
- capacitive screen, respectable screen resolution
- camera seems better than my n95
- Ovi Maps w/navigation is very nice, it even prounounces street names
- all the ports are on the top, very convenient
- voice dialing was carried over from 3rd
- flash video player runs smoother than my n95
- easier to play facebook games via skyfire than my n95
- screen is readable in sunlight when set to full brightness
Worst:
- screen sensitivity has quirks, sometimes it goes off accidentally and other times it feels like what you are trying to touch is not at a sensor location
- email client (mail for exchange) is not improved, multi-select (mark) items is a multi-step process in both email clients
- the cursor that was present in 3rd in opera and the web browser is gone which means you can't roll-over things anymore
- can't lock the screen with the display on (prevent accidental touches)
- can only see 2 short lines of text while typing - this sucks!
- home screen has limited customization, choice of home screens displaying different content with space left over, how about just 1 home screen with combined content from both, it'll fit no problem

I have run out of memory using opera mobile, either it closes or nokia email closes, i did have to do a battery pull this morning as it got stuck in opera mobile.

so far my impression is that unlike my n900, the x6 is infinitely more mature in software implementation, however the screen and opera mobile 5th are the only advantages I've seen over 3rd edition

Nokia X6 ? The Nokia X6 is no slouch in the beauty stakes either, with its slim, curved-edge profile and a 16:9 widescreen interface providing a slick.

Wow, sounds exactly like my Omnia HD, except that the Omnia has better internal hardware. I still get laggy responsiveness and the native browser is annoying to use: sometimes a tap has an effect, other times it doesn't.

The common factor/culprit is, I guess, S60v5.

Symbian is fine as a 3rd edition, button based interface. With touch optimization slapped on, it's less than pleasant to use. Meego 1 can't get here fast enough.

this is a very impressive and entertaining mobile phone, because Nokia X6 has lot of qualities so i like to visit this impressive web site which give the entertainment through Nokia X6.

I got mine last week and it is a good phone, battery life is better compared to the 5800 and the N86 although it uses the same battery as the 5800. It has been very stable so far compared to other Nokias this early in the FW cycle. The bluetooth stack is the best I have ever experienced with a Nokia, connects to my car both as a handsfree phone and as a mp3 player without any problems so I can get the map instructions through the car speakers or stream music.

I would take anything that Rapid Star says these days with regards to Nokias with a pinch of salt. He kept praising the N97 when it was new and he owned one when everyone knows that it was a POS at that time.

Not on my phone, works like before where if you type in a few letters you will see a bunch of previously entered web address that start with those letters.

N900 looks promising but apart from firefox, what other applications does N900 platform(Maemo) offer? There is big world outside facebook and twitter.

Also, N900 lacks Java support. That's a big minus considering the established base of Java apps.

I got two Java apps which I use for stock trading so N900 is useless to me.

If you offer me N900 & 5800, on same price I will choose 5800.
