Nokia N95 or iPhone

As the two folks before me correctly stated, it sure does!

I have used Palm OS, WM and S60......... S60 is by far the most stable and supported by good 3rd party apps!

quick question about the n95 and apponintments...can an address be associated with an appointment so one does not have to refind the address every time they must go to that appointment.......aka with my garmin 1q3600 i can click on any appointment and hit the route me to it and presto, it knows that Mrs. Jones lives at 1234 somewhere drive and will calculate my route.....

Anyone ???

Well I don't need to lose my job to satisfy a few. The most I can say is that it will get better. All I can say one of my good friends is actually a tester for the iphone. Take it or don't, I still have a hot meal at home waiting for me.

kthnx,
S.

P.S. After playing with the n75 in store, I disliked it. Camera super slow which was the main reason I was going to get it... Got the Curve instead.

Go for N95!!! I really wnt to get one for myself but waiting for the price drop bit more.....

Lot of HOFO members own N95 & they post up it very good one.

This list amuses me, mostly because you hear this kind of stuff from Nokia fans (especially N95 owners) all the time. I had the chance to play with a bunch of Nokia phones prior to the iPhone launch at an S60 event in Chicago's, Nokia flagship store and had a chance to browse the internet on many different devices including the N95 and the E90.

The only device that was actually intuitive for web browsing was the N800, which was a dedicated internet device with a touchscreen and stylus and interestingly enough, no phone functionality. It was also using that foldaway bluetooth keyboard for text input. Now that I would say is a really nice toy.

Although the N95 has some really great capabilities and overall is one of the best multimedia phones on the market and it does technically have full web page web browsing functionality, I would say the the iPhone has a much better web browsing experience because of the intutitive implementaion of the dynamic zoom, accelerometer and multi-touch interface, not to mention the better than adequate implementaion of the touch screen keyboard, I therefore can relate to point 1 on the list.

Point 2 is also a silly thing to bring up, for US N95 users at least. I always feel salty towards Nokia (and most other manufacturers as a whole) for neglecting to, at the very least, make their flagship phones US compatible and especially US 3G compatible.

Well there's a combination of the FCC who regulates the airwave usage and pretty much "auction" off wireless bands to the highest bidder, plus a whole bunch of antitrust laws that encourage many smaller competing wireless cariers rather than a few large ones that can make big sweeping changes, that make coordinating WCDMA bands with the rest of the world difficult if not impossible.

For instance, it would be to T-Mobile USA's advantage competitively if they could the same HSDPA bands that most European and Asian countries use, but for some reason they cannot aquire those bands from the FCC so they have to develop 3G in with yet another band.

N95 hands down. Iphone lacks multimedia features in comparison to N95, which is a 'real time' GPS and none of the google maps BS that Iphone uses + it has 5mp camera and records videos at 30fps which is impressive.

I'm not too worried about that. It's only for incidental candid shots. I have a real camera for other stuff. I'm mainly interested in having a a music phone with a real Smartphone OS, and the N75 fits the bill perfectly (especially since AT&T treats it as a phone instead of a smartphone or PDA phone...data plans are cheaper).

I might get an N95 later...but the price is too high for me right now. I won't be interested in the iPhone until Gen2 most likely.

Apple would have been smart to have an app library available...I think Jobs dropped the ball on that one.

ide like to comment on your post a little if i may, being a n95 user.
#1 yes the n95 is based on the same type of browser the iphone is but, probably not as nice do to the bigger screen and the multitouch, but yet the n95 browser still; displays full web pages and u can save pictures from the very website u veiwing, can the iphone do this.
#2 whoever said it, unless they are international travelers are fools.
#3 a querty would definetly be better, the predictive text isnt all that bad after u get used to it.
#4 The gps isnt what you would get if u went and bought a garmin or a tom tom system, but it gets u from point a to point b and yes it is very useful.
#5 you can get 4gb right now if u want and yes its very good because u can take it with u if u decide to sell the n95 and u can buy more than one if u want, so if u have the money u can have much memory, or if u want 4gb for movies alone u can do that, they are hot swappable.Plus the n91 has 8gb its not like the iphone was the first lol.
#6 Thats just stupid, and if u have the n95 there isnt a 3 second lag.
#7 NO its not dvd quality, but yes its the best on any cellphone u can get other than a nokia.
#8 Where is the graininess of the n95, i agree about the the flash, but not the graininess, and can u please tell me a cellphone with a better camera.

this dont look grainy to me
#9 This is a problem, but from what i hear about the iphone, if you look in the threads peopel arent praising it either.
#10 The iphone is thinnner longer and wider oh and weighs more also, so what is the brick really.

The bottom line is if u like your iphone or want one get it, if you want a full featured device with almost everything put into 1 device get the n95 or whatever else u might like.

^ The pics from the N95 look great.

I'm not sure how well the N95 takes night/dark shots, but the Sony Ericsson K790/K800, although it's only 3.5 megapixel compared to the N95's 5 mp, it takes great shots in moderately lit and in low light enviroments. Also the Xenon flash works really well in dark environments.

As for the iPhone, well if there's enough light, the camera is passable but in darker environments, it's either horribly grainy or completely useless.

The N95 doesn't have a flash bulb like the SE phone. I really don't understand why... probably takes away from the already mediocre battery life.

If the iPhone had AF its pictures would probably be twice as good.

Well the n95 takes decent shots at night, what saves it is the 5mp size, so if you reduce it to a 1 mp size they look fairly good from a night pic, yes it needs a xenon flash. The daytime shots are very printable and can replace a regular digital for casula shooting, i wont take to someones wedding.

I'd say it depends on what you are going to use the phone for. The N95 is more feature rich so if you depend on all the smartphone features it offers then definitely go for it. It also has a better camera w/ autofocus and a flash and with the latest firmware, the camera is very responsive.

If Nokia comes up with an HSDPA version compatible with AT&T's 3G network, I'd totally get one for my lineup.

If you are going to primarily use your phone for web browsing, the touch screen browsing on the iPhone's safari is amazing especially when you are using WiFi. The iPhone also has a beautiful screen resolution as well which is perfect for videos on the go and if you already have an extensive itunes library, it syncs right up in a snap.

Ouch!! Still too rich for me, especially considering I'd have to buy it sight unseen and the fact that its 3G isn't compatible with anything in the U.S. currently. It also has no QWERTY keyboard (real or virtual) and the GPS requires a monthly service fee to operate anyway (this is what I have read while researching the phone). The 5 megapixel camera takes larger pictures than other cell phone cameras, but from what I've seen, they are no better in terms of quality than other cell phone camera pics in my opinion.

For me, the iPhone is the better way to go.

My N95 came in today. This thing is not bulky or heavy at all. Sure it's thicker than the iPhone but it's really not hard to carry around.

I dont think so. If your fast wit the T9 in N95, you could blaze thru texting, contrary to the public opinion on Iphones keyboard which has a long learning curve.

Your right husky, its actualklky very lightweight, and people confuse that with feeling cheap or not made good, its amazing they put so much ina small package.
