I don't think some of you may understand what this guy is saying. Nokia won't repair the phone for any price. Nokia USA is telling him that, essentially, "You didn't buy a USA-released handset, therefore we will not help you." They then refer him to Europe. Nokia Europe is telling him that they will only repair it if it is a shipped back to a European address.
I experienced this very issue, and I agree it is poor form for Nokia. There should be NO reason why they cannot fix the phone in their European repair center, and then ship it back to a U.S. address. (They could even bill him for the cost of doing so.) But, they won't.
I went through this with them as well. I can sort of (but not really fully) understand that they cannot fix it in the U.S. due to not having parts in the U.S. for a non-U.S. phone. But I see no excuse for Europe.
When I first tried this last year, the issue was compounded by the rudness of the Nokia U.S.A. "customer service" representative. He looked up the IMEI in their database, and then told me that he wouldn't help me. He then lectured me on importing a European handset to the U.S.
