Nokia E61: BlackBerry Client

It seems like it is capable of connecting multiple APs. I was browsing the web (which connected to internet.com) and was still receiving emails (which comes through blackberry.net).

Also, couple of times, when I tried to open web app, it told me too many connections are open and asked me which ones to close. Interesting...

Ok can anyone confirm that the nokia e61 is working with the cingular bis plan? I want to use this as a data only thing. I may start using the blackberry push email on it from my gmail but I am mainly going to use it for the web browser and im.

If i wanted to setup GMAIL account do I just set it up as another inbox? When you connect do you have to specifically tell it it that that is the specific email account to update?

IT Policy is sent through OTA, but it doesn't include any software updates (at least to my knowledge). On BES you use software configuration to send OTA software updates.

I tried from two different BB devices to send messages, both show message as delivered, nothing comes on. You can give it a shot.

when i make a call or recieve a call i get the screen message

"packet data connection on hold" Anyone else getting this?

I can finally say this is a real phone after i got the BB Connect working.

what i did was download it to my 'puter than bluetooth'ed it to my phone (but as long as you have it on your phone its the same). Just run the file to install it, its pretty straightforward. (I had to manually change the date on my phone to the year 2007 because I guess its not officially available yet for US users, as soon as its installed just change the date back.

yep, you can set it to do whatever you want (including ring/vibrate)
as said above through "profiles"

I'm on T mobile, and I'm having the same problems.....I can't open an internet connection (other than over wifi) when I have the blackberry connect software running, I get the too many open connections message.....lasala you mentioned using wap.voicestream....could you clarify for me.....I have a wap access point (tzones I think), but if I try and use that to access a website I get an unsuported content error message.....Also could someone explain why I have 2 blackberry access points....Blackberry and blackberry 2 (blackberry 2 seems permanently on an uneditable) I deleted the other connection called blackberry, but it seemed to reinstal itself

Not surprised. So BB Connect is still the same functionally as for the SE P910 & Nokia 9300/9500: Push email will be on hold while surfing etc. This is why I only use Blackberry on Blackberry devices. The novelty of using Blackberry Connect will soon wear off and you might find yourself reaching for that ole' 8700

If you have unlimited data, try using IMAP. It works very well with the E61 and you get email immediately just like Blackberry (see my posts in the "mobilebee" thread). Cheers, Sabesh.

Unsupported content error message is related to Wap sites. The web application does not support WML content.

Both Blackberry and Blackberry2 are created by the BB Connect, I don't know the sole reason having two with same settings.

Btw, the link is again up on nokia business software site. I downloaded it and it was exactly same file. So no updates.

I can't seem to register my pin on T-mobile in the US. My pin starts with 64a, while my old pin that worked started with 3 numbers. Has anyone had this problem?? I don't understand it.

Nope... Actually I was running a speed test, during the middle of the test, I sent me an email and it arrived, without waiting for the web browsing session to pause, download continued without interruption.

For me I am trying to use 1 device instead of 2. Otherwise, I can sync via ActiveSync anyways and it supports Direct Push.

A colleague has the problem of E61 not able to ring/vibrate wheen receiving a message. It can only flash the red LED light. He says the failure to ring/vibrate is for all email types (pop, imap, blackberry).

He's on the Vodafone network and running version 1.0610.04.04 dated 19 Apr 2006

Can anyone confirm if this is a Vodafone device specific?

See I wish I could find out if I can use the e61 for the bis on cingular. I hear that some people cannot get the wap.cingular to work with the blackberry connect part. Damn. Basically i am looking for my gmail to be pushed to my e61 and also allow me to stay on the instant messenger program all day as well as use the web browser. I have a cingular prepaid sim in it now and the medianet works perfectly for it when it comes to im, browsing, and pop3.

stupid question..........do you need GPRS active to set up the new pin?? The reason is I'm travelling in Asia right now and don't/can't get GPRS to work here and I'm wondering if that is affecting the new pin set up. Maybe that is why I can't change to new pin/device.

Here is a list of missing or less convinient items, feel free to add

1. PIN messaging - can be crucial for some people
2. No option to ask whether to delete from handheld or handheld+server. You can set it to delete either, but there is no Prompt option, similar to BB.
3. MDS - On my BB, I can access local stuff easy, like X1 Search (www.webmessenger.com) or Idokorro Mobile Admin (www.idokorro.com), without a need for opening firewall ports. Also I can access the local intranet.
4. Contacts, Notes, Tasks - This is no deal breaker for me, as I can sync contacts via ActiveSync and Notes and Tasks via desktop. But I'd love to see at least Contacts getting sync'd, for convinience, via BB Connect.
5. Reconcile Now option is hidden under a bunch of menus. You have to go to Email Settings - Blackberry - Wireless Reconcile then select the BES or BIS connection you configured and then you can issue the command.

1 and 3 were deal breakers for me, 1 being the most critical. At least to be able to receive PIN is important for me.

What are your experiences.
