Nokia E61: BlackBerry Client

Actually we are using BES 4.1 for Exchange (running Exchange 2003 SP2). Push email experience is almost the same, they arrive as fast as they were on my 8700. Calendar sync works great too.

Too bad there is no contacts/notes/tasks sync. Currently I use ActiveSync for Contacts, Notes and Tasks get synced via desktop, so it is alright.

I got the web browsing working with Rogers too, using internet.com APN, but I am afraid they might charge me pay as you go usage fees.

well i deleted the old one, so i guess we'll never know, although i tend to think you're right, and i was wrong, as i did not do a checksum, only looked at the filesize on disk.

ahh, makes more sense now- so i've disabled cached exchange mode and restarted outllok, and re-initiated the connection to configure the blackberry client, will see how it goes...

ok guys, i just downloaded the file from the link. i'm really a nokia newbie so excuse my ignorance, but how do i install it on the phone? the file is an .sis file. but i don't know how to do it. can someone post an explanation for the symbian challenged individual like me. thanks.

The device can utilize multiple connections, as far as I have experienced. So when I was downloading a big image (2Mb), I was still able to receive BBConnect messages. BBConnect and web browser was using two separate GPRS connections/APNs

Here is the link from Nokia (I recovered it from my cache )

Does anyone have red star next to the blackberry name when in the email mode? What does that red asterix mean? i have it for my GMAIL setup but not my Blackberry. After installing the new version I am not receiving any new emails. Sigh

Any time

Wonder if PIN messaging will work (it is known to work with some BBConnect clients, though it is receive only). I have had a friend send a PIN, it shows delivered on his end, nothing on mine. Maybe that's what nokia is fixin

Sorry andresalazar, I think my msg was misleading. Cached Outlook Mode, should be fine, I have seen some users using IMAP4 connecting to Exchange and I was trying to ensure you are connected directly to Exchange. If you check the manual, you'll see for the activation, it suggests being in corp network.

I don't really PIN but it would be nice to get BB messenger working again on Nokia and also the Directory Lookup function for corporate directory.

Red dot means you have a new email

also for the pin question
go to your mailboxs and hit options then settings
then go to email
then go to blackberry
you will see general etc..

hit options again and hit register now and your pin will appear after you get a registration email.

you must have the blackberry plan on your service provider or it WILL NOT register.

hope that helps. if you have any questions let me know would love to help since i died until this damn software came out

also the old and new is the same exact loaded old on notebook and new on desktop same thing.

as for the update if you go to email/blackberry general and device info it says IT policy update and mine updated in the AM when they posted the new software... Thats really cool i actually gota update email that said registered OTA Update etc..

i am actually using BIS and tmobile client its working great with a few things i miss on my 8700

good luck guys

this is for all Tmobile Blackberry connect users:

In order to use the web browser and other internet applications add a new connections profile with the APN wap.voicestream.com .

Weird, I wouldn't think T-Mobile would be pushing software configuration over the air. Any chance you are mixing the IT policy with that. An IT policy is used to specify settings, like if you can install apps, smime is supported or not, security options, etc.

I am so far back to 8700, as sometimes during work, people can send PIN messages and at least I need to be able to receive them, with E61 I can't.

i am refering to IT policy i thought this was a OTA

also you sure PIN messages dont work?

havent tried it yet. ireally miss the BB pin messenger thing it is a real handy when your freinds are on it

Just curious: Do you have to "pause" the Blackberry Connect app to access GPRS features like chat, browsing, RSS etc? Thx, Sabesh.
