Nokia 5800 XM NAM(850/1900): Reviews, Issues, Tips, Tricks & Support Thread!!

Some people don't like it. Actually everyone seems to not like it, but i don't mind. When i'm browsing my music i always drag my finger on the list while i decide what song to pick, so this works great. And there are sub menu options for each item, for example if you want to send a song as an email. But most people bash this this and don't really care as much.

Yikes! Thanks for that.

I've installed both the Navi version (0591814) and the other NAM version (0592207) and both my phones are working. Only difference I can find is the default theme (Navigation vs Sound Waves).

Your results with 057994 makes me wonder again about the "NA" designation. Perhaps it's not for North American models after all...

no its not just you. its a problem with this phone and that facebook site (really for iphone). if you go into someone's photo's and click thru all the way to they end, you are then stuck there with no way to go back or go anywhere, you simply have to close the page and start a new session. nothing you can do about it that i know of.

lol i still like this phone. i use it as a backup to my n97. i just found a new cfw for the rm-428 and already flashed my phone to it. i think this is the only one for v50 that i've found anyways. i have around 80mb on C and 60 mb ram after the flash. will report back after i install everything and put it to some heavy use.

yes nokia customer reps are just clueless. the next time this happens, someone should call them but when they say its the carriers issue, tell them you don't have a carrier. just tell them you bought the phone just as a music player and wifi device, with no sim card. then this forces them to avoid that carrier excuse altogether.

Finding the answer to that might be more difficult than understanding the grand unified theory. There is no greater mystery in the universe than the behavior of Nokia management.

My guess, maybe it's Nokia's way of apologizing for making Navigation free for everyone after Nav Edition owner's paid more for the phone to get free nav. Of course that doesn't appease people with other phones who bought nav licenses...

Go ahead and change your product code if you're tired of waiting. The XM and NAV are exactly the same except for cosmetics (matt black, chrome bezel and no silver stripe). The Nav is even identified as an XM in all software, and even on the phone's internal info (*#0000#).

My nephew is using an iPhone on a normal $10/month family data plan, so it will probably work the other way around.

However, I have seen the odd occasional post from someone who switched from an iPhone to something else and reported trouble due to the iPhone plan, so...

hmm i've been able to do it on almost everything. the few exceptions are apps that were created for the phone that weren't fully integrated in the phone yet.

Well I paid for it with my debit card online, but it said download failed. So I like a tard tried again. For a second time, the download failed. :goodness:
I checked my account and yup, I sure was charged twice. Is there any way to retrieve it or get my money back?

Mine did. It was a loose battery connection. Rather than exchange it, I just put a piece of business card under it to force a tight connection. That was months ago and no problem since.

Meerasant, if you run the Nokia setup wizard again, you will be able to restore all those AT&T access points you deleted.... I go into Wireless Lan to connect to an access point for the first time and then I go into destinations to prioritize if I don't like the way Nokia has prioritized them for me. The unit will only automatically connect to an access point after a connection has been established initially. I would keep Wireless scanning off since it saves precious battery life.

Yeah you definitely want to have the att internet access point in your destination below your wifi ones. And you really only need one destination in total, with all your wifi at the top (work wifi, home wifi) and then att internet after those. This is the best setup.

And to the other poster, your wife's contacts can easily be copied to and from the sim card. Just use options and select all, then copy. First you max have to go to options and change the memory selected to either phone memory or sim memory, then you can copy all as needed. You can also have both memory options selected at the same time if you want to.

Note that when a new sim is put into the phone the contacts app will actually ask to copy all from sim card for you.

well mine is with the latest firmware or maybe i just need long nails, but i seem to constantly have to hit the buttons over and over again mainly to go back, also the web seems to freeze for a few seconds before it responds to taps, i also notice playing music thru my bh-503 stereo headset it seems to skip or stutter every now and then, nothing like the n85 when i use it for music thru the bh-503, i only had it 2 days so its not fair to judge it so quickly, i do like the size of the screen and the resolution for movie watching and videos of it, and music thru the wired headset is nice but i definitely prefer the n85 at this point so far, also battery lifer on the n85 is much better so far.
Has anyone had an issue with there stereo bluetooth headsets with sporadic interferences.

Qty of available Apple Phones x existing firmwares to upgrade = X

Qty of available Nokia Phones x existing firmwares to upgrade = Y

Y - X = umm, yeah we can communicate much better and update faster.
