What that video doesn't show however, is that when you touch a letter, the box it's in lights up red, and the letter shows up in another box right above the one you just hit (a la iPhone).
 
i put some apps on the card, and the stuff i use a lot on the phone's memory like themes and stuff. and those have been working fine without problems. it could be the themes you are using or something man. some of the themes disabled some stuff on my phone.
 
V40 is out for the NAM Navigation edition. FOTA still shows no updates, but NSU is saying that v40.2.005 is available for the NAM Nav (RM-428 product code 0591814). Navifirm also shows this.

However, it's not available for my NAM XM version yet (RM-428/0577454), that still says v31.2.101 is the latest.

So for those of you with NAM XM phones that were nervous about using a foreign product code, there's a nice NAM code available now.
 
I guess by now a month later you either threw your phone out the window or you got it to boot. If you ever get the White Screen of Death (WSOD) when booting a 5800, take out the battery, take out the memory card, put the battery back in and reboot.

Welcome to the world of crappy OEM Nokia memory cards. Delete all apps from memory card (you can leave your music and movies) and install only to phone memory. Done.

I had to reflash it and bring it back from the dead. A hard reset did nothing to it. Its working great now. Thanks again for the help.
 
I used 0591814..I was hoping it wouldnt wipe out ovi maps 3.03 ( I thought that was mentioned) and it didnt..Still have the turn by turn nav thankfully. I also like the music player that sits on top of the homescreen. When you had a song that you paused and switched back to home..it would show on the homescreen in pause..when you touch it, it would bring the music player up..this v40 leaves the homescreen and the song or playlist is usable without leaving the homescreen. You can even go through your playlist or artist if that is whats active...My opinion...cool idea..
 
Has anyone been experiencing problems downloading Nokia Messaging ?

I've gone to email.nokia.com multiple times over the last week on both my desktop and mobile phone, entered phone number and model number and then it just goes into a loop and never gets past step 1 and no SMS is received.
I contacted Nokia support but they were clueless.
 
ya your right, each one excels in a different area. i dunno if i can justify keeping both though, as the 5800 will get very limited usage. I'm hoping the n97 can be the best of both worlds (already on pre-order), so we'll see what happens..
 
Have a question for those who are syncing the 5800 to Outlook....on my home screen (set to the shortcuts theme), my next appt shows up, along with all my tasks. I do not want tasks to show up on the home screen. Is there a way to prevent that?
Also when I tap on the appt on the home screen, it takes me to the calendar screen and displays all the to-do tasks and calendar appt. Is there a way to see only the appts and not the to-do items?
Finally, I chose to also sync my notes from Outlook, but they are not getting transferred to the phone. Any help from the gurus is much appreciated.
 
it's referring to ram memory not the C or memory card.

our phones have a memory leak, so during the day, the ram dwindles down considerably. that could be why your one app caused the error as there was barely any to begin with and the app just hogged the rest. just reboot the phone and you should be good. i try to boot it at least once a day
