Nokia 5800 XM NAM(850/1900): Reviews, Issues, Tips, Tricks & Support Thread!!

My NAM doesn't do any of that stuff, with the exception of apps "crashing" when you open them. What's really happening is that the phone doesn't have enough free RAM to open the program and rather than popping up an out of memory error or closing a different program to free memory, the one you launched just disappears silently.

I haven't had my N95 for a while now but I too remember its speakers being louder than 5800. They're not quite by all means, and the clarity is very good but they're just nor screaming like on N95.

Hmm....Maybe someone forgot to put the manual in your box. I just got my 5800 NAM from Dell this week, and I found quick start and regular thick manual in the box. I checked out the online manual, and it looks like the same one that I got in the box.

You should always do a hard reset after flashing your firmware.

OperaMini goes through Opera's servers (no choice). If your ISP blocks socket connections you have to change the settings to http. You probably already did this.

The NAM 5800 XpressMusic PC is 0577454, the NAM 5800 Navigation Edition PC is 0591814. I said there were no FOTA updates for those, and that is correct.

Everyone knows you can change your product code to get updates, I just said there are no FOTA updates for the NAM XM or Nav versions. Funky beta product codes do not invalidate my statement.

well the old trick was to use a combination of the website and teh sms link. so you did the first half on the website, then rather than download from there you went and had them send a link for the second half of actually installing the file. that was how i had to do it a few months ago.

Right. And Nokia does support it,its under 1 year warranty.FW is a different thing altogether. And still,I just dont understand why some people so reluctant to change the product code and update?General principle?Stupidity?Just look at the happy iPhone owners with all that jailbreaking.

To answer my own question, the rogue app is Ovi Contacts. Under Options > Settings > Connection > Network connection, it was set to "Internet". Once changed to "Ask when needed" no new entries showed up in the activity log. Problem solved!

hey guys, having a bit of a problem here.
when i set my main menu to "grid" and not list
mu icons show up with no names on the bottom? any ideas on what the matter is?

Its perfect timing since i just gave in and bought an n97 mini. I was gonna make a youtube video smashing my 5800 just to relieve stress. But i guess i should send this phone in to repair the screen and keep it around as a backup.
