Nokia 5800 XM NAM(850/1900): Reviews, Issues, Tips, Tricks & Support Thread!!

i totally agree that hofo loads slow on the browser, but that is hofo's fault. every other site i load is normal. hofo has historically always loaded slow for me, even on laptop sometimes.

how does the 5800 save files? I sent some music files via bluetooth, but when I saved it to the memory it didnt ask me whether i want it done to phone memory or memory card. So I can't tell whether it was saved in the phone's memory or the SD card.

I would like to know that as well. It bugs me no end that everytime I create a bookmark, it puts it in the root folder along with all the other default folders and I then have to move it to "My Bookmarks" folder.

1. it's because we can't adjust the sensitivity. the sensors is somewhat sensitive. just a small tilt in one direction and it changes.
2. i just use T9, but with the fullscreen qwerty, i still don't use the stylus. maybe you're using the wrong keyboard? perhaps the mini instead of the full.
3. isn't that normal? my n95 was the same.

what exactly is kinetic scrolling? I assume it refers to 'flick' scrolling a la iPhone. But what confuses me is that my 5800 browser does the same thing. There is no scroll bar, you move the page up with your finger if you want to scroll down. Is that not kinetic scrolling?

Navifirm reports that V21 is out on the CA Rogers network (RM-428). I changed my product code to the CA Rogers code and installed V21 on the NAM set. It works without any issues. My observations, so far -

1. I feel like it is getting better battery life
2. The browser is a tad faster and stable but not a significant improvement
3. The phone overall seems a little bit more responsive to the touch
4. I guess the ambient light sensor works better??? I never knew I had an issue with it but the phone's brightness is better now under different light conditions (though I might be imagining this).

So, I would say get it.

I know it's not the default product code, but it's a NAM code. It is not LTA nor Euro.

Is there an equivalent for navifirm that works on the FOTA servers? If not, you're just speculating. Wrongly, I might add.

It's OK, I'll pull the PC off the phone when it, my laptop, and myself are all in the same room next weekend.

Nice man, at least your at $300 :2thumbs:

Yeah this device is very frustrating. The handwriting is awesome though since I got good handwriting. I been writing all my messaged and works great IMO.

I think I should give it a few days and see if it gets any better. The potential do be a fun device is definitely promising though :buddies:

You should check crackberry.com in the marketplace for a Bold. Good prices there.

Hmm, I thought I saw that "0 uploads 0 messages" area on the homescreen before. No biggie.

Seems like they are apps tied to the browser like facebook. After following live_strong's directions, i would open up the web browser, options, settings, general, and select "internet" in the access point. It should already be changed, but sometimes it doesn't for some reason

yea, and sometimes when you lock, the screen doesn't go off immediately. weird. oh well, i'm over it. it doesn't perform as well as the n97 fw wise to me. gonna go back to stock fw.
