Nokia 5800 XM NAM(850/1900): Reviews, Issues, Tips, Tricks & Support Thread!!

The Nokia browser is MUCH faster after the v21.2.025 firmware update. Fast enough that I probably won't bother with Opera Mini any longer. The whole UI seems a little faster, but the browser, wow! Seriously, try it.

I haven't noticed any significant difference in battery life, but it hasn't even been a day yet (I'm still at full bars, though).

Smart dialing is not just typing numbers. You can even start typing their name(T9 style) from dialpad and it will bring up numbers. So, you don't have to open contacts.

If you dialed someone on cell and want to try on their Home number you can't from call logs. You have to open contacts again. I am saying this becomes tedious while driving. I am not saying it's hard. But, for a smartphone or even any cellphone these are basic standards these days. I think if you get used to those features you will understand how inconvenient it is to open contacts. The only time I open contacts is to add new contact or edit contacts.

Sorry if I am not able to explain clearly. One day, I will try to record these and put on youtube. At least, Nokia will see what they are missing and is on most other phones.

i only got the one with "English (us)" that's it, when i connected my phone with ovi suite it will show up the english with street name for me to download, but after i downloaded it just won't show up on the voice guidance section, it's so weird. do you think i should uninstall everything and reinstall to see what happens? thanks for your help anyways. :)

I don't know why but I can confirm that this limitation is for real. When I first got NM I noticed that a lot of people were upset about this limitation.

Yes, native SIP works with CFW C6 although battery life takes a big hit with SIP running (only 6-8 hours battery life in standby!). Look for the newer pnht V11 builds as the C6 V10 software from Nokia (used in the original pnht build) were supposed to have a problem with short battery life.

I bought a couple mini-usb to micro-usb adapters.
So, I can use those old mini-usb usb cables, ac chargers and car chargers with new micro-usb devices, and only carry the mini-usb ones with me when I have to carry a few new and old phones with me for work

what instant messaging program do you guys recommend for this phone? My personal favorite so far is slick, but it doesn't support adding mobile numbers so you don't waste text messages on them. i tried fring, which is compatible with the 5800 but there are some really annoying ui issues that need to be fixed. Agile messenger isn't completely optimized for the 5800, and it costs money, and it crashes when you change screen orientation.

I could have sworn that in each profile there was a secondary volume control setting for warning tones. But i certainly can't find it. So i guess there's no solution to your problem. So the email sound isn't even linked to the ringer volume? That sucks.
