Yes, I concur. Today I tried to install an app on my new 5800 and nothing happened when I tried to run the Nokia App Installer on my desktop, so I rebooted my desktop and then my phone. The 5800 had three bars on the battery meter before the reboot, and 1 bar after. I suspect that the installation failed because the phone didn't have enough juice to even receive data via USB.
 
Welcome to annoyance. There is no way to avoid these pop ups. The facebook app is web run time, so all web run time apps work the same and have this issue. Also the java implementation has a weird bug where it frequently has the connection pop up appear. I wish they would fix this somehow.

Though you CAN go into the app manager and find the app in question and open suite settings and set to always allow all the options. Opera mini 5 beta has the connection as an option to always allow. So this does help some. But the bug is still there no matter what.
 
After using v31 for a few days I'm not happy. I'm not seeing any big improvements in overall speed compared to v21, and the browser is definitely worse. I've been having a lot more browser crashes with v31 than I ever had with v21 (where it was quite stable), and rendering of images seems worse. Also, some pages I visit regularly now don't work. :(

Any way to flash back to v21?
 
just flashed to a different cfw. i like this one more, but the touch sensitivity seems to go down ever so slightly because of the kinetic scrolling mod. guess i'll deal with it until i have time to make my own.
 
I fixed it myself. It's was actually pretty easy to do. When the 0574994 firmware failed to install for me, intalling the file manually also failed. I had to use Navifirm to then download a 0591814 version of firmware to get the phone working again. I'm convinced that the 0574994 files on the Nokia's server were corrupt. Ironically, I didn't have the same problem installing the firmware mentioned earlier today for 0577454.

The voice with street names only shows up for me when selected and downloaded on the phone. If you get on wifi, you should be able to download it that way.
 
Do you have any application that uses GPS location? . If that so , check whether your GPS setting have Assisted GPS checked in because it uses tower location via internet to get faster lock. Otherwise, you might have background application that uses internet
 
you dont replace anything. you just have both installed and use whichever one you want for a given task.

if you are asking is it possible to make opera the default browser, so that any link opens in opera rather than the regular browser, the answer i think is no. unfortunately nobody has been able to do this...
 
So... what exactly is on the memory card when the phone ships? I heard that formatting the card right away is a good idea, and also I want to do it because it will fix the "distortion problem" with the 5800 speakers.

What will I be losing if I decide to just backup all my images and music, and then reformat?
 
Just a note: My next opinion is not about kits (or anyone else). I'm just saying that:

I feel really frustrated (in part four) when people are getting a new phone and they:

1) Are really impatient to get it NOW
2) Are really stoked when they FINALLY get it
3) Start playing it and report everything to HoFO (this is only a good thing ;) )

4) And after barely 24 hours are already ready to dump the phone saying that it's not what they expected and wanted!! :wow: :rolleyes:

WHY does people have to be so impatient with mobilephones? I mean that doesn't you usually get a 30 day return period when buying a new phone (it may wary of course)? If you have a 30 days to use and get to know the phone WHY would you not use that 30 days and then return or sell the phone if you still don't like it?

This was just my two cents...
 
When you are typing (not reading) an email using QWERTY keyboard mode or alphanumeric keyboard, how do you scroll through lines in the window. I can only scroll left or right one character at a time and it sucks if I have to quickly scroll through the line.
