Nokia 5800 XM NAM(850/1900): Reviews, Issues, Tips, Tricks & Support Thread!!

i heard that it was supposed to make the browser faster. if that's what it does, that's what i want. the s60 browser is close to useless, as is Opera mini. i'm like a begging dog now because of the way nokia is. :reallysad

Hey thanks for that link. I had the ugly distorted gmail icon too and I knew it had been mentioned earlier in this thread or a similar one. Thanks for not making me search thru 43 pages of this thread. I just fixed both problems.

Well I think I figured it out. I installed Y-browser to look further into the phone memory and I found a huge folder located in the C:\System\cache directory from Y-browser. It contained 4500 little gifs and jpegs. I opened a few of them up and they were like espn banner adds, google banners ect... So I am in the process of deleting them all and my Phone Memory is increasing as they are being removed. I'm just wondering why the cache was so full because I empty it out daily from the nokia web browser.

I was able to download the quick office read only suite from their website and install on my phone. However, for some reason my license manager is corrupt and it won't let me run any updates.

Have you installed any applications on it? Specifically ones that are supposed to run in the background?

If a hard reset doesn't fix the issue then you should indeed send it in.

they are OS specific rather than phone specific. but you cannot use iphone apps with the 5800. you'll have to wait for a similar app to come out for your phone

Did you format the card? For some reason the card seemed to cause problems for my phone until i formatted it with the phone. It even messes up my winmo phone when i put the same card in.

I also have the same bt headphones, no problems with skipping at all. Range is also very good. This is what i noticed on it, however, if you put the phone in your left pocket and turn your head right, it skips. If the headphones and the phone is separated by metal, like phone in pocket and you're leaning over your car, it skips. Other that that, it's fine

Well i am referring to the new nokia messaging email app. It has full html email the way its supposed to be. The interface is totally different and actually looks very slick and polished. You can long press for pop up menus, have up to 10 email accounts synced, good copy/paste implementation, etc. Its worth it to me and its free.

Test it out or look at some screen shots. It still just serves you email so if you want to stick with regular one thats fine. I havent had any problems with it so far. It worked on my 5800 too.

i had a euro 5800 back when they first came out and really liked it. I ended up selling it for the NAM but, because of the well known fiasco surrounding its launch, got an e71 instead. While the e71-2 was, in fact, a great phone, i still had a secret love for a NAM 5800. I traded my e71 for a used 5800 NAM and ive gotta say, ive really been enjoying it.... A LOT. Ill probably rock it for a couple months until the n97 NAM is about 400 and then ill switch.

The design has similarities to the N97 with the positioning of the nokia logo and those dots are similar to the new xpressmusic phones. That's not what the preproduction phone ones looked like either. No stylus slot either!

it's not that hard? and why are you talking it out so many times anyways?

just use your finger nail on that little indentation near the camera side
