Nokia 5800 XM NAM(850/1900): Reviews, Issues, Tips, Tricks & Support Thread!!

Except that both your computer and phone can access the card simultaneously in PC Suite mode, so it seems like to should be fixable. Don't see why they couldn't make mass storage mode and extension of PC Suite mode so the phone would not lose access to the card.. They fixed the backup bug, wish they'd fix this one.

Exciting times lie ahead :D cant wait until its officialy available. :)
If its one thing that Nokia dont have to worry about is the stability of this thing, didnt realise how much i was taking it for granted until i used my N81 during the weekend, with in 45mins of using my N81 it froze and rebooted, i was stunned, a reboot is something i havent experienced in months even after installing and uninstalling loads of crap (some of it good) on my 5800.

Cliff, sillie is right. go to settings>personal>homescreen>homescreen. Make sure the music player is checked then OK. If you are playing a mp3 thru the speakers, hit the center white button, then hit the home button. the song will show playing or pause. :2thumbs:

I swap back and fourth between my E71 and this new 5800. I use the e71 mainly during the work week. I've had 2 of these phones and the battery on both were very hard to get out IMO.

Oh god, so it IS a design flaw? I thought i was just being stupid and missed something. That's a pretty unacceptable oversight. Did they not even try out the phone once? I'm trying to not be a basher cause i'm one of the nokia die hard fans. But seriously, the fact that they even released a firmware update and STILL didnt fix that large of a bug is astonishing. I think i might not buy just on principle. Wtf.

Again, this is not an n series phone. Don't expect the same support as other phones or even compare them. I realized that this is you first nokia phone, but i don't think it's right to say that you won't come back to a nokia because of a music phone that CAN do everything else, but just not good at it.

@joelong2: how did you do a hard reset? looking around, people have suggested 2 different methods -*#7870# and red-green-camera. I tried both, and calendar entries still do not show on the homescreen. Any idea?

Was there any solution to this problem? My meetings just disappeared from my home screen too and won't come back. What's the point of the homescreen if I can't get everything to show up there? Might as well just go straight into the menu like iphone.... :(

That happened to me only once so far. But i had opera mini opened and i went to click a link when the phone rang. I finished use call but afterwards the screen was black and the 3 buttons were lit up. I had to pull the battery. So i attributed the crash to opera mini...for now.

Can i get a little help please guys?

I've been out of the Nokia scene for a long while. I dont have time to keep up anymore.

I've sold off my 5800, but a friend still has his. I'd like to help him get V50 since everyone seems to be singing its praises.

He has a NAM unit, rm-428. I shocked that there is customs fw now. But i dont want to mess with those. I just want to get V50 on there.

I changed the product code on my E71 a while back with NSS. Is NSS still used for the 5800? Anyone have a guide? And which NAM product code to use to get V50?

thanks guys, sorry about my n00btardedness.

Yeah, to read files is free. To edit is going to cost $20. There are no other office products I am aware of. If there are, I doubt they would be worth your time.

I'm not sure if we are talking about free RAM or free disk space on C drive. The n97 has the famous problem of low C disk space. But it also has low RAM problems too. The 5800 hasn't had quite as much problems with low C disk space. Though wel do have to clear it up once in a while by clearing web cache and resetting google maps.
