Nokia 5800 XM NAM(850/1900): Reviews, Issues, Tips, Tricks & Support Thread!!

im sorry it was tools then logs, then scroll all the way to write and it gives u a full log of all data sms, and voice, should look like this. I know i can do it on the n85 so i am assuming you can on the 5800.

Hacking is not mainly about signing apps although if you put in the install server patch you don't have to sign.

If you want to do any modding, you will need a hacked phone. For example, I have a custom boot screen and sound, no more stupid Nokia handholding and goofy melody that makes you look like a n00b or a Nokia fanboy, and I can use great apps like the Active File manufacturer edition or Y-Browser with r/w access to the whole phone.

1. impossible, this is an OS feature. only nokia can undo it
3. free isms
5. do you have unlimited data? the phone uses agps so if you have data it will lock onto your position quickly. without it, it takes forever

Anyone interested in purchasing a Martin Fields screen protector for the 5800? I bought one anticipating I would keep the 5800 I recently ordered. After spending a day with it, it's going back to Dell. Nice little device, but just wasn't my cup of tea. Looking forward to seeing what touchscreens Nokia has in their future, though.

PM me if you're interested. Bought it from the UK (blueunplugged) for ~$25. Will sell it for something reasonable.

When i installed the new firmware i started putting all apps on the memory card. Except google maps cause it was too slow on the memory card. Thats it.

Sure it can. Look at windows mobile.

Either its really hard to do for symbian, and no one cares enough to do it. Or no one cares period. Its got to be possible

People who experienced in T9 will always be faster than qwerty imo because you're tapping keys less with t9. I think its pretty easy to type on the qwerty on this phone... try using your index fingers instead of your thumbs, its pretty effective.

Well I broke my screen yesterday! :( I knocked my phone off a shelf that was 6 feet high, in the process of falling it bounced off three things. At first I thought nothing was wrong. However there spot that shows an impact hit and a bunch of spider like cracks going out from that hit. Luckely the touchscreen portion all around the cracks seem to work just fine!!!!

Man how annoying... I just had to do a 2nd hard reset on this phone. For some reason my calendar entries would not show up on the home screen. Even the option where you check the calendar box was gone for some reason. I did some research in other forums and others had the same problem, but no easy fix. I'm hoping for a fw update soon because this thing is getting unbearable to use.

Okay, v40 is now out for RM-428 product code 0574994 "NA Black" (NA, not NAM?). This is the PC people used to get the early v31 release. Still nothing for 0577454.

:(

0592207: 5800 RM-428 NAM Region US Black PR4.0 MR
0591814: 5800 RM-428 NAM Region US Sangalo Black NAVI

0574994: NA BLACK

Why "NA" instead of NAM? Might this not really be a North American PC? Where else could "NA" mean (Netherlands Antilles, North Africa)? Inquiring minds want to know...

Anyway this seems to be the leanest of the v40 firmwares:
v40 "NA" 0574994 = 131,744,800 bytes
v40 Navi 0591814 = 132,025,046 bytes
v40 NAM 0592207 = 132,618,845 bytes
