[NEWS] R.I.P. Kids WB 1995-2008, Kids'WB.com Emerges April 2008

Toys, cards... same deal. They'll march out plans and then screw it up, and we'll never see anything.

I'm starting to wonder. Is this WB's fault or CBS's? I'm going to say both. But I can clearly see it being CBS being cheap.

I hope Fox can get another line up. maybe call DIC and get Gadget and the Gadgetinis over here at long last. I know it sucks, but I want to see it. I had to sit through both horrible Disney films.

Then CN should move Action Squad to Sundays if they won't get rid of it!

ANNOUNCER - *coughs* As I was saying...Saturday mornings SHALL LIVE AGAIN!!! :anime: ;)

Oh how the mighty have fallen.

This is a sad sad day for Saturday mornings.

KWB's current season had a lot of potential. Now Eon Kid will probably be toss asside and World Quest may never air. I'd figure Tom and Jerry Tales will join CN soon enough and probably Legion but I'm really hoping Toonami gets first crack at Spider-Man with this development. But that depends on which company made the deal for Spider-Man (which is animated by Sony).

Ironically... we might see TMNT on "kids wb" years after when it might have aired there (well a completely different current generation TMNT but one none the less).

I'd have to say I expect 4kids will move their heavy hitters to CW because KWB is currently available to more viewers. And they might even terminate their contract with Fox early.

But seriously... 4kids? Of all the companies WHY DID IT HAVE TO BE 4KIDS?!?!?!?

Cartoons are doomed. It's a simple as that.

How can 4kids manage to mess this up? I mean CW gave them a head start by creating a block and 4kids decided to name it CW4kids! This is their first step and they are already going backwards. Not only is that too much to say (compared to the word Kids'WB) it will also confuse some kids.
"Spider-man is not coming on this 4kids, it's coming on the other 4kids!"

4kids is stupid. They get paid to ruin animated properties and brands...and now there is another chapter in the book that lists the examples of their stupidity: they will compete with themselves. I mean the success of one block is bound to ruin the other block, right?

Kids aren't as dumb as you think. I'm sure they can tell the difference between two blocks airing on two separate channels, even if the logos do share a few letters.

Perhaps. And that may be their intention, actually. Use the FOX block as a testing zone for one year while putting their main focus on the CW block, then ditch the FOX block in 2009.

EDIT: I've been checking out the new Kids' WB site. Pretty cool, although it doesn't have a lot of Kids' WB titles on there yet. The only ones I saw were Static Shock, Ozzy & Drix, and Batman Beyond.

I'm confused about something. I thought that it was confirmed that the new Yu-Gi-Oh! series and the new TMNT series are going to air on the CW this fall. I know that at least 4Kids confirmed the new Yu-Gi-Oh! series for their new fall block in their last quarter report. I just wanted to know if there was a change of some kind so that I wouldn't be confused about where it would air. I doubt that 5D's would air on 4KidsTV since seeing two Yu-Gi-Oh! series on the same station might be a bit odd.

Wait Jeff... as LightLucario just brought up: weren't TMNT and YGO already confirmed for CW's block by Al Kahn at stock holders meeting? I was pretty sure they were but I heard nothing of Chaotic being confirmed for the CW. One would think they'd keep that and YGO on "The Game Station" but I suppose maybe not.

I think using the FOX block as a testing ground is a bad idea. I think they should just try to keep both blocks going for as long as they can, that way if one block doesn't work out theres always the other one. I could be wrong but the FOX block hasn't really showed signs of failure yet, so why ruin it just because you found another home for 5yrs? FoxBox/4Kids TV has lasted longer than I originally thought it would, theres gotta be something there. I just wouldn't burn any bridges.

And as far as I know, Spider-Man has yet to be confirmed to air on CW4Kids except the summer.

Actually, I blame The CW just as much as 4Kids, if not moreso. Seriously, the Kids' WB! brand should have at least ended on television when The WB and UPN merged to become The CW. Kids' CW actually makes more sense than Kids' WB! on The CW. At least CW 4Kids emphasizes the network's brand for once.

How is CW4Kids more than a mouthful than Kids' WB? They both have the same amount of syllables.

They don't care. FOX and The CW are paying them a lot of money, and 4Kids is taking advantage of both networks' laziness to maintain and program their own children's blocks. That's the real problem, mind you. FOX, The CW, CBS, NBC, and ABC are too lazy to develop and program their own Saturday morning blocks that they have other people manage it for them.

ION, Corus, Scholastic, and Entertainment Rights operate the qubo block along with NBC Universal (the block is broadcasted on NBC and Telemundo). Unlike the other networks, at least the people behind qubo recognize that not everybody has access to broadband, so qubo is availiable as a free digital television channel.

DiC Entertainment and American Greetings operate the KEWLopolis block for CBS. Prior to that, Nickelodeon programmed the Nick Jr./Nick on CBS blocks.

ABC Cable Networks programs ABC Kids. The lineup is all repeats of Disney Channel and Toon Disney programming.

4Kids isn't doing anything different than what qubo, DiC, and Disney are doing elsewhere. It's just that 4Kids has taken advantage of a pair of successful blocks owned by networks wanting to save a buck by not working to create and manage their own brands rather than just one. Either that, or people hate what they did to their precious, precious anime.

For starters, just because it's called Kids' WB doesn't mean it's going to have ALL Kids' WB programming. Warner Bros. is reintroducing the brand as a showcase for most of the Warner Bros.-owned animated titles and properties (Cartoon Network's shows are elsewhere), not particularly the shows seen on Kids' WB. You won't see non-WB-owned properties like Spectacular Spider-Man or Eon Kid or past shows like Pokemon, Earthworm Jim, Jackie Chan Adventures, or X-Men Evolution on the site, and a lot of "Silver Age" shows like Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain, Taz-Mania, and Histeria are already on in2TV, though they may eventually migrate to Kids' WB! over time.

This article officially confirmed that new episodes of Chaotic is CW-bound. 4Kids sees it as a property with life in it, probably because it's one they have a direct ownership in since Yu-Gi-Oh! is owned by another party. I wonder if the whole "Game Station" subtitle will remain myself, but even if it does, they could always focus on shows based on video games and such.

That said, I don't think the final lineup is set, but TMNT: Back to the Sewers and the new Yu-Gi-Oh are among 4Kids' highest profile properties, so it wouldn't surprise me if both join Chaotic at The CW.

You're right. There hasn't been any signs of failure from 4KidsTV as it continously is a ratings draw week after week. And it is a bad idea that the FOX block will likely be a test block for the 2009-10 season of The CW 4Kids. Depending on how you see the situation, either The CW got lazy and couldn't think of another distributor to handle their block or 4Kids got greedy and decided to program two blocks rather than one. 4Kids' contract with FOX ends in a year, and instead of renewing it, they chose to migrate their programming to The CW for at least five years. If they did renew it (and they still could considering how nobody batted an eye at the notion of one distributor programming two broadcast network blocks), I doubt 4Kids would be as strong as they were before the deal considering they're stretching themselves thin. In 2013, the question of whether it was a good deal or not will be answered.

I'll be 35. Maybe my kids will care, if I have some by then.

The CW acquired 26 episodes of The Spectacular Spider-Man, 13 for the spring and 13 for the fall. 4Kids would be foolish to drop the series, especially since they could pair it up with something like TMNT. 4Kids is greedy, shrewd, and manipulative, but not foolish.

I'm positive that the new Yu-Gi-Oh! series will air on the CW, even though I'm still confused with what Jeff is talking about. I know that those shows were confirmed on that meeting call by Al Kahn. I don't know if they would put on Cubix or Tama and Friends, but I know that they won't put Pokemon back on there, which is a shame because those episodes don't even get repeats anymore. At least there's DVDs.

Anyway, the only shows that CW 4Kids will have on there are either shows that they already are connected to, repeats of Kids' WB series and maybe some returning shows like the new Spiderman series. I don't think that 4Kids is able to air even the Pokemon episodes they dubbed on that block without paying PUSA some money. They wouldn't do that since they could just air another show altogether and spend less money in that aspect.

I'm pretty sure that's the case. It honestly would be kind of weird seeing two different Yu-Gi-Oh! on the same channel. I'm guessing that GX wouldn't be done until sometime around mid to late next year, depending on how often they show new episodes. With both of those in mind, it still makes more sense to have 5D's on the CW block and keep GX on 4KidsTV. It's okay. Despite how I'm figuring it out, I'm still confused over this whole thing. Hopefully it will be cleared up once 4Kids does announce their schedule for each fall block.
