[NEWS] R.I.P. Kids WB 1995-2008, Kids'WB.com Emerges April 2008

i hope that 4Kids continues the superhero shows that are going on (i.e, batman, spider-man), and hopefully will actively develop new superhero shows (wanted: power man & iron fist, Mighty Thor, avengers, moon knight, blade, hulk)

The Batman and Legion make more sense for CN, imho. At least people get that channel, while no one gets Toon Disney.

Although anything is possible with those shows, I just pray they air a place people can see them (ie, not Toon Disney).

Most, but not all. Eon Kid, Johnny Test, and Shaggy and Scooby-Doo Get A Clue were all new (and maybe Will & DeWitt, Magi Nation, and Skunk Fu were too - I'm not sure about those).

Yeah...I know. But not by much.

CW4Kids has the laziest logo for a block ever. It's just the CW logo with the 4Kids logo pasted on top of it.

Though, it is a bit depressing that we actually have a date for when the final broadcast under the Kids WB banner will be...

May 17th... :crying:

Well, it's kindo of sad what's happened to such a great block these past 5 or so years. I wish there was a way to get some new great shows in, and a lot of them. They used to have a great lineup for pretty much the entire block, now they just have a decent lineup for about a quarter of the time..? Anyway, I haven't really watched Kids WB for about two years (I drift in and out on occasion) but I saw that they are planning on Teen Titans returning, that'd be good for the new block, but I don't think they will keep it (though they really should).

When it comes to cartoons these days no one working at Time Warner has a frickin' clue. It's just amazing to me that these execs are killing so many of their best animated properties. I mean look at the Looney Tunes. This property is almost 80 years old and it's practically dead. Dead.

Aside from TMNT, these are shows that really make us worry about the network's future. A show based on an unpopular game (though I heard good things about it) a cheesy attempt at an online game, and a cheesy attempt to get a toy line which will never be made.

the logo looks weird but I think its just a temporary one until they reveal the real logo. I think its perfect timing though.. This allows kids to transition into the change. But I hope the change is huge..I still wonder what they are gonna place on there besides the previously announced Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's and TMNT B2TS. Spectacular Spiderman would fit perfectly and a new anime would work as well. I'm still thinking SGT frog..IDK Y....

There goes the good old days of Hanna-Barbera, Filmation, DFE, Rankin-Bass, Disney, Warner Bros., Ruby-Spears, DIC, Marvel, Film-Roman, Saban, and Sid and Marty Krofft of Saturday morning past...

I agree with you as well, Jeff. I thought 4Kids was having trouble keeping a profit with one programming block... and now they're attempting two? Yes, we know the Saturday morning broadcast networks have been dying slowly for years now - maybe this is a sign that nobody else wants it? And that wouldn't surprise me - I mean the only two companies who might want in are the last two to drop from the races... Discovery Channel and their Discovery Kids block, and Nickelodeon with their Nick Jr. block. DK on NBC was a failure. Nick Jr. on CBS didn't do much better. And I'm pretty sure Nick doesn't want to compete with itself with regular Nick programming.

Unless they do a Disney Channel and bring their TeenNick shows to Saturday mornings - a contrast to Nicktoons on Saturday mornings on Nick.

And before we go 'hey, this easily gives 4Kids majority market,' remember that some affiliates dropped out immediately after 4Kids started programming for Fox's space - and many more have left over the years.

Truth be told, would CW be better off just dropping the block altogether and, like they did with the weekday block, let the affiliates program those four-to-five hours themselves? No... there isn't any upside either way.

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the world of Saturday mornings of the late 2000's, where a 1.0 in Kids' 6-11 isn't an embarrassment if you're on the broadcast networks... that means you're breaking even.

Many of the studios you mentioned were defunct years before this news was dropped. It's irrelevant to this discussion. You're not seriously trying to blame 4KidsTV for the demises of Filmation and Kroft studios, are you?

Agreed fully. When you don't know what to do with Evergreen material like Looney Tunes, and can barely squeak by on comic book culture alone (DC comics projects), you need to have a round of firings, and replace them with competant workers who actually care about the project. Not someone who's convinced it's just a rest stop and spring board for something more "Hip" and "profitable."

I think he's mourning over Saturday morning cartoons in general. I can't blame him. But honestly, the writing was on the wall when CBS started their pathetic Nick Jr. line up back years ago. Since then, it's been a downward spiral.

Man, 4kids is absolutely hilarious.

So many people think they're on their deathbed and they keep doing the unthinkable. I wonder how it'll work out for them, all I care is that TMNT keeps going and that's it.
