[NEWS] R.I.P. Kids WB 1995-2008, Kids'WB.com Emerges April 2008

I don't know...4Kids will probably want to keep shows that they can merchandise off of, and I'm not sure how well Tom & Jerry Tales fits into that game plan. Still, the show usually does get the highest ratings of any cartoon or live-action kids show on Saturday morning, so maybe 4Kids will keep it around simply because of that.

At the very least, CN will probably air reruns of the show...and perhaps order new episodes as well, if it doesn't stay on the new 4Kids block. CN has always had a strong interest in the Tom & Jerry franchise.

I wish I could say I didn't see it coming, but I found it bizarre the current economics could still support a traditional network Saturday Morning. The article explains the reasons why it doesn't.

Only ten? It had one foot in the grave already!

His mentioning of the three entities (Superman, Batman, Pinky) currently airing on Jetix and that the once-inconcievable arrangements are now reality causes me to think that there might just be more en route to the Mouse.

To me, Jetix's biggest liability has been a very low percentage of new product on the air at any one time. Right now, it's just Power Rangers and Digimon, with second seasons of Yin Yang Yo and Pucca on the way.

To get things like The Batman and LSH would be big and be a totally logical extension of having the two TAS series already on the schedule.

I just wish they were a bit more consistent with their commitment to shows already on their schedule -- still don't quite get why they pulled the plug on shows like WITCH and Super Robot Monkey Team which were quite good and had production people/studios willing to do more.

But that's about as far as I'll go or else this post becomes one more suited for the Disney board.

I think things are looking grim for Tom & Jerry Tales, but the fact that it remains on the Kids' WB lineup even though it has aired all its episodes makes me think that it might have a shot at a new season.

As for World of Quest...it's doing pretty poorly on Kids' WB, so I don't expect to see any more episodes past the initial order.

Episode 1:Kids WB!: To get "Death Sentence" by 4Kids.

Here's my intake:

Man, the last original block owned by a corporation is leaving this year. I still can't believe it. From Animaniacs, Pinky and The Brain, Freakazoid!, Earthworm Jim, The Sylvester and Tweety Mysteries, Superman: TAS, Road Rovers, Waynehead, Men In Black: The Series, Calamity Jane, Channel Umptee-3, The New Batman/Superman Adventures, Histeria!, The Big Cartoonie Show, Pinky, Elmyra & The Brain (Ugh), Batman Beyond, Pokemon, Detention!, and fast forward to Yu-Gi-Oh! Loonatics (Crap), Coconut Fred (No), Johnny Test, Shaggy and Scooby Doo Get A Clue!, Tom and Jerry Tales, Monster Allergy, The Batman, Magi-Nation, Will and Dewitt, Skunk Fu!, Eon Kid, Teen Titans, and Legion Of Superheroes.

Once that's gone, there will be virtually nothing to watch anymore on Saturdays, and that's a darn shame. I feel sad for the kids. Cartoons are getting worser and worser by each show. Heck, even TV-Y7 shows feel like preschool shows. When I watch cartoons, I do that to get OUT of reality and laugh for 30 minutes, but that's too much for FCC, Soccer Moms and Corporations. They take that away, leaving kids, teens, and adults with little or no gateway out of reality. When I watch what they put on TV, I die a little inside, telling myself it was a good thing getting out of the industry at a good time. I wish those damn soccer moms, FCC, whoever complaining about TV to don't watch it. They think of the stupidest reasons why cartoons are violent and should be off the air. If anything, parents, talk to your child about violence in cartoons, teach them that is wrong to do this, or do that, don't ruin it for everybody. That's what made so many good things vanish to what it is now, like Cartoon Network, Disney and Nick. What, we adults and teens have to watch Adult Swim and internet cartoons for our excitement? The whole "Everything's for kids!" things is bogus trash. FCC, and Soccer Moms, complain about shows with sex, "male enhancement" commercials in the daytime, Jerry Springer, Maury, crap on MTV, #BET and VH1, and so on.

And that's my intake. Good Night everybody.

Well, they yhave some pretty abysmal TV shows there. Tom and Jerry and Batman are about all I care to watch on that network. And last week's Batman was a joke.

Wait a second. January? No wonder why the ratings sucked. They were all reruns that week.

EDIT: You may not have figured this out yet, but they still beat all the others in the ratings.

I just think the only shows that will remain on the next work are Spiderman, Legion of superheroes, and Maybe The Batman. I think because Superheroes are in as well as Video Games they are gonna try to merge the two for the CW. But I think 4Kids make at least two more Hero Show for next fall maybe Thundercats and firestorm. plans on producing their own shows would do just as well considering their own shows are the ones that are doing well for 4Kids TV. I see Viva, Chaotic, and TMNT, shifting over to the CW. And Dino King is doing well too so that might go there. I'm confused. I don't know how the hell they are going to do this with out killing most of their properties. I mean alot of companies have more tan one network though so it could work..IDK.

Thank you. The in-charge people at WB made this decision, not 4Kids, to sell their Saturday morning block, as you've rightly mentioned. You're so right about decent Saturday morning cartoon blocks. Honestly, 4KidsTV has some decent to good shows on, I mainly watch it for TMNT, Dinosaur King and Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, and the only thing keeping me watching Dynamite Action Squad is Pokemon. Other than that, nothing interests me in the least on Saturday morning.

I defintely agree with you that it's a great thing that 4Kids is keeping Saturday mornings alive with their two new blocks. Hopefully those blocks could help bring more decent Saturday morning blocks around. Or at least they'll be good enough to keep that happy feeling I enjoy getting while watching a Saturday cartoon block.

That is so true and so sad at the same time. They would either have informercials or do what they did to the after they got rid of the afternoon block: put on a couple of hours of repeated sitcoms. I actually cried when I heard that was happening, mainly because I wanted to watch Pokemon after school. Thank goodness for those box sets and for Cartoon Network eventually putting them back on an afternoon slot. Anyway, either way sounds pretty bad to me. I also completely agree with DrTooth on how the people in high positions are acting towards these blocks. They want high ratings, yet they put minium effort into it. Quite sad actually.

It's up in the air at this point, but I'd say that since Spectacular Spider-Man will be airing new episodes on The CW 4Kids, it has a good chance of staying on the block in the fall.

Man, "The CW 4Kids" is kind of an annoying name to type out...

Not only that, but less animation on TV, less animation jobs.

Hiring someone to run a business that doesn't care about their product makes no sense. Clearly these network heads are someone's kids or relatives.

I'd just be glad when this happens already. Not that I'd be happy but I'm anxious to see how it turns out and what kinds of DTVs Warner Bros, make afterwards.

Well, if anyone was looking forward to the next season of Legion of Superheroes, prepare for a shock.

And I'm guessing Tom and Jerry is for the can as well, along with Shaggy and Scooby.

Can't wait to see how people are going to try to blame this on 4Kids, when it's WB's market cowardice at this point. Time Warner will forever be dead to me. 4kids may not have great business sense, but at least they manage to keep tv cartoons going.

I'm going to boycot the DTV movies. I am. Even if they make an Animaniacs one, which isn't a possibility.

I might not even buy Tiny Toons now.
