Naughty Cineworld!!!!!

I expect there probably is. I can't comment for Cineworld (they're the enemy, I work for National Amusements!).

At this stage in 3D development it's not commercially feasible to drop the upcharge for 3D tickets due to the extortionate "overheaRAB" that are associated with it that the exhibitor has to pay, but I would have thought Cineworld should get to grips with the Unlimited side of things.

Jonas is the first mainstream release to be 3D only, looking at the release slate up until Xmas, its the only one that is.

I have to disagree with you there - the 3D in Coraline was brillant.

I think when a lot of people think of 3D they think of My Bloody Valentine, with things flying out the screen at the audience.

Coraline was the complete opposite - it draws you into the picture and immerses you in the world the film is creating.

I still won't get off my soap-box about the extra cost though.

I don't know if this has been mentioned elsewhere but l went to a Cineworld to see 'A Perfect Getaway' and found that all the ticket counters closed. Customers had to queue up at the food and drink counter to purchase tickets. I asked the cashier is this to tempt people to buy food and drink as well, he said it was!

Is this a regular policy as l found it strange as it was early evening. Also, will customers who wish to pay only for tickets would get hacked off waiting for someone in front placing a mega order for popcorn and coke!

Pretty sure Avatar is 3D only, and I've read conflicting reports that The Final Destination may or may not have a 2D release as well as the main 3D one.

Long reply from Cineworld. Most lies to me, as i used to watch 3D movies with the card and no fee.

This is what they said:

Dear *******,

Thank you for your recent e-mail regarding 3D movies.

3D is a premium product and the overhead costs involved to bring this experience to our customers are much higher than the standard film product. As such we have added a small uplift on the ticket price for Unlimited Card holders (Implemented from May 1st 2009) who wish to continue viewing 3D films. Customers will usually have the choice to watch the 2D version instead should they not wish to pay the uplift.

Cineworld have introduced the latest 3D technology to a large selection of our cinemas screens across the UK and we have also made a considerable investment in improving our digital projection equipment costing in excess of

This may seem a little weird and un-connected, but if anyone reading this has health insurance have you considered going with Pru Health?

Two of my colleagues have, and along with subsidised gym membership (between

so why have unlimited carRAB then if they not even covering costs via ticket sales? surely they dont rely soley on refreshments. NONSENSE

Avatar will have a 2D release. There simply aren't enough 3D screens in the USA to justify releasing a film which is going to cost well north of $200 million when advertising is included, (and is reportedly going to be over 3 hours long meaning less screenings) only in 3D.

The T&Cs of the card actually say that 3D films count as special events and are not included in the deal! So you are lucky that you only have to pay

How long has this been part of the T&C?

I've seen 2 films in the last year in 3D using my Unlimited Card & have never had to pay extra. Both times i was handed the glasses with no problems.
