Hello **********

Thank you for your reply.

The reason for the decision to implement this nominal charge is the decision by Cineworld to roll out 3D screens as part of an overall drive to improve the cinema experience for all customer's not just members of the Unlimited scheme. Cineworld have introduced the latest 3D technology to a large selection of our cinema screens across the UK and we have also made a considerable investment in improving our digital projection equipment in order to enhance the customer's film experience.

In accordance with the Terms and Conditions of the Unlimited Scheme, card holders have always been excluded from accessing premium screenings such as VIP, Deluxe and 3D. However, more recently Cineworld felt that, as the 3D experience was the ultimate cinematic experience, they would waiver clause 3.5 of the Unlimited Terms and Conditions of use and allowed Unlimited Customers the opportunity to experience 3D films for a limited period free of charge.

As 3D is a premium product and the overhead costs involved to bring this experience to our customers are much higher than the standard film product Cineworld have now decided to implement a small uplift on the ticket price for Unlimited Card holders who wish to continue viewing 3D films in order to make Unlimited viewing commercially viable. This surcharge has been advertised in our Monthly Unlimited magazine, on line on the web site and in our fortnightly newsletter and on promotional posters in store.

With regarRAB to your comments about the 2D films, Cineworld do try and ensure that the 2D version of the films is available where possible. Unfortunately this will depend on demand and the size of the cinema, but wherever possible we will screen both the 2D and the 3D version.

I hope the above explains the situation with regarRAB to your comments/grievances but should you still remain unhappy about the offerings of your Unlimited card or consider that the restrictions affect your subscription substantially then I am able to cancel your contract at any time giving one months notice.

Kind RegarRAB

one more point can I be bold as to suggest without the unlimited offer they wuodl not get half the attendances they do and a chance to really make off food and drink so they should be a bit more humble about it.

those post mix drinks cost them around 15p a cup and they charge 2.45

Well, thats kind of what I mean.

Orange only pay the cinemas a fraction of the full ticket price. The cinema is happy to accept because they'd rather have some money than have empty seats, plus they hope that it will generate extra income from the sale of food and drink.

Not that everyone buys food and drink, some people try and sneak it in ;)

Edit: I'd not be surprised if Orange Wednesdays got dropped at some point. Wednesday used to be a bad day for going to the cinema because it was the day before the new releases came out. Orange really only had to worry about those people who didn't mind waiting a week before seing a new release. Now with more and more films actually opening on a Wednesday I suspect it's costing them a lot more than they originally planned.

Just in case it helps anyone, if you have health insurance through Prudential you can get a discounted Unlimited card as one of their vitality rewarRAB. I got mine for

So we should consider it a privilidge that we were allowed to view 3d for free for a limited time? Typical reply trying to turn it around to sound like we were lucky to get in without the surcharge at all.

My point is that it was free to get it before and my old contract did not have it. This so called old contract they are telling me that is mine, which it is not.

It was free, but they are trying to hide it now and say the charge was always there.

The manager at Cineworld goes to me, look at your contract. I got mine last year, this is the new contract and you cant apply this to us and he just shut up and didn't know what to say.

Confused by the comment in the T&Cs about not being able to access Deluxe screenings as in the four or so years I had the card I never had a problem getting into the Deluxe screen at our local.

However, after those years of membership we've just cancelled our carRAB - when I went in the Sunday before Star Trek opened to book it they refused. Said that they'd never allowed pre-bookings on unlimited, despite the fact I always did it on the big new releases (Watchmen most recently, QoS, Iron Man, Indy IV to name just a few I can remember doing it for off the top of my head, even back to Revenge of the Sith). They offered me comps as an apology which I took, but then e-mail Customer Services when I got home.

Took a week but once I got a reply they said that they'd never allowed pre-bookings, and if a cinema had done so then they were at fault. I told them I wanted to cancel, and I did.

Now, a month or so on, I'm a happy Showcase customer. Maybe I'm paying more but I'm able to do all the things I'd want and, frankly, feel Cineworld can get stuffed. It's 15 miles to my nearest non-Cineworld cinema, as opposed to about 2 miles to Cineworld - but I'd rather go somewhere where my custom is welcomed.

So I really feel for these tales of the 3D surcharge - they've taken a card that was truly unlimited when it was UGC's (those were the days) to one that's getting more and more "limited" month by month. It's really not worth bothering with any more, and their customer service are dreadful.

The gym side of it isn't what gives you the deal, it's having the PruHealth cover. The gym just allows you get get quite a lot of points towarRAB their Vitality rewarRAB.

Basically, if you have Pruhealth cover and never do anything towarRAB getting points the Cineworld pass is
