Naruto Shippuden Arc 4 Talkback (spoilers)

Because the tails are counting up to the nineth one, i.e. Naruto? Just because they're there it doesn't mean they need to be developed. Kishimoto certainly didn't think it was worth spending time on them before killing them off to get on with the story.

I was prompted to watch the latest episode because, you know, me being the Sasuke fangirl and all. And I've got to say, thought the Hawk vs. Bee fight animated was great. And Sasuke's Team 7 flash made me squee loudly, just as it did in the manga. After seeing that, now I really feel the desire to catch up on those 90-odd episodes I've fallen behind on in Shippuden. *cough*

Yerp. Reading the dialogue to One Piece chapter #563 also had be in tears.

Oh lord, General Hospital's on in 50 minutes!! Gotta take a shower!!

I'm still working through Sasuke vs. Deidara right now but I hope to at least get to Jiraya soon.

But the full version of Sign is on Youtube, and it is AWESOME. Just be aware if you go looking there's a lot of "repeat" versions (seriously, why does FLOW get all of the trolls).

Ugh... No it doesn't. It looks like predictable "let's save this girl with super jutsu powers from evil bad gang who ultimately gets her super jutsu powers only to eventually get asskicked by Naruto who saves the girl" crap. The only thing remotely interesting is their exploration of the master-student relationship, which I'll assume they'll do more with Naruto and Jiraiya.
I'm surprised that nobody's emphasized that fact Jiraiya's dead and that they haven't mourned his loss yet. 'Course, I haven't read the manga so what do I know?

Blah... Wake me when we get back to Pain or Akatsuki stuff. I'll only passively watch this arc.

And yeah, bubbles are a lame power.

Don't remind me of those repeat versions... almost as bad as the Sasuke fanboy opening versions(the one showing Sasuke vs Itachi instead of Jiraya vs Pein when the song gets awesome)

#134 was pretty awesome! I enjoyed seeing some of the extensions to the fights. I'm glad they aren't jumping into any filler arcs, either.

Remeraber, no one knows that Jiraiya is dead yet (no point in hiding it in spoiler tags, it happened quite a while ago). It may be hard to grasp, but only a couple of days have passed since his death.

Anyway, about the arc itself, there were some good humorous moments, like the part with the leeches. The villains are really lame, though.

Also,

The bubble guy is actually a canon character, though he only appeared in a chapter title page. He's a Jinchuriki.

Sasuke vs. Itachi is underway and may I just say, it's a delight that they're using the movies' animation for this.

Itachi does his freakout on Sasuke this week too. The seiyuu did a great job with that. "SASUKE! YOU ARE MY NEW LIGHT!!!" Oh man, I've gotta hear that in the dub.

The omake today was brilliant. Probably the best they've done in a while with Kiba and Naruto sleep-kicking Yamato's ass. Loved Naruto's "*snore* Sakura...you're a man after all..."

They dropped the ball a bit with these two episodes in terms of pacing. A lot of flasrabroadacks/recaps there that didn't need to be. I know there were flasrabroadacks in the manga as well but did it really go through all those flasrabroadacks? I have to admit that this is what caused me to stop watching part 1 of the series. Pairing long flasrabroadacks and recaps just don't cut it for me. Ironic because in part 1 I dropped it because of the same flasrabroadacks Itachi and Sasuke flasrabroadacks. I found myself doing quite a bit of skipping because that was a bit much.

I suppose both episodes were buildups for the next one to come. So in a sense I should expected this.

The fighting bits were done well enough. (I didn't care for the ninja star throwing though) 1st episode my mouth could've hit the floor with the way the hand to hand corabat was done.

Overall both episodes were decent. The pacing kind of threw things off a bit for me though. I do look forward to seeing how the next episode will turn out though. (Despite the disappointing ending to this fight, it was still a good one)

I greatly disagree with that statement. First off, this whole special covered a total of four chapters--two per episode. That's terrific pacing. Secondly, the last time Sasuke's past aired on television was literally over four and a half years ago. It was time for a refresher, and it also significantly built up the mood for the battle as well.

I haven't posted here in a while, but Naruto has been pretty amazing lately. The entire Jiraiya vs. Pain fight was incredible, and episode 135 has arguably the best fight sequence I've seen in the show. I just wish that the color palette for the hall in the Sasuke vs. Itachi battle was the same as it is in the opening theme, but it still looks great.
