Ya, but what good are those options when your $500+ phone is pretty much a paperweight inside some buildings and malls.
Of course, this has been discussed to death so i guess it's a matter of personal preference.
When push comes to shove however, it has been proven empirically that 850 DOES make a difference though, even in urban areas. So if you're willing to sacrifice coverage for a phone that you like that doesn't support 850, by all means get it. But to say that it provides the same amount of coverage or at least that it doesn't affect you is a pretty bold statement.
