My extension thread

I never posted any photos now the scaffold has been taken down. Here's a couple showing the back and front.

Does anyone know where I can get hold of a two way spot ceiling light? I need it for the top of the stairs.

Good progress!

Are you happy with the builder and team? I mean other than trying to kill the neigrabroadours pets of course

Looks like I am having to do further amendments to my plans

I was going to say anywhere, but looked at Homebase and realised they tend to do 1 spot then jump to 3 or more.

There are 6 or 7 of varying styles at B&Q, a few at Debenhams and John Lewis, plus any lighting shop local to you should have catologues you can pick through.

I have quite a few multi-spotlight setups currently and I am going to swap them out when I next decorate (more on that below). I just dont like the unevenness of the light they shed across a room. Maybe down the stairs (would it be shining straight in your eyes though!) and in a hallway would be alright.

Regarding decorating I have big news too, my planning permission went through

My neigrabroadours are FUMING though and had no hesitation in telling me so!

Oh, and you're place is looking good!

Yes they've all gone and so have the rafters now. It's no fun underneath all that noise though, not easy to concentrate on my work. The next couple of days should be the worst of the lot as they put the new rafters in and build the dormers.

When will they be using the nail gun? That was the most annoying for us...apart from when they were breaking the ground up in order to dig the foundations.

Yes I'm very happy with them so far. There's a couple of ceilings they need to repair due mainly to the leaks on the 2nd night and the incident with the cat but you always are going to get things like this happen. I've known the owner of this company since we were young laRAB and he did warn me that feet could well come through ceilings with all the work going on up there!

I didn't have to do any amendments to my plans, but the council still dragged their feet and didn't get round to granting permission until about 3 weeks after they should have done. We'd probably have been finished now if they'd done their job properly!

Good news on your planning permission mate

Yes the spots tend to be 1 then jump to 3 and above. I think we've got a branch of CEF near here so might have a look there. The main problem I have at the top of the stairs is that it's a sloping ceiling and there's not enough space to put a decent lampshade on.

I think that will be tomorrow. The sound of them smacking and sawing the rafters out right above my head whilst I'm trying to work was bad enough though

Thanks.

Check out the stores I mentioned above online, all have 2 spot ones.

I think I'd be tempted to mount a few in-ceiling single spots that can pivot (with LED bulbs in) than a 2 way spot though. Then you can have some up the stairs and some in the hall way.

Oh, and check out screwfix.co.uk they usually have quite a lot of lights.

There's a covering been put over now for overnight, but it's very noisy in this high wind. I think I might need a few drinks to be able to get to sleep tonight. It's like being in a very noisy tent

My tent is pictured below The scaffold planks are blowing about in the wind as well as the temporary roof cover. It's going to be a long night !!

I'm not very keen on the in ceiling spots as it would mean that the insulation would need to be removed where the spot was going.
