The Residents

Without a doubt the most mysterious & avant-garde group of all time, The Residents have been doing weird, awesome music anonymously and consistantly from their beginnings in the late 60's to the present day.

Named as an influence by outfits such as They Might Be Giants, TISM, Mr. Bungle, Primus and Animal Collective, the band has put out 60+ albums worth of material, gone through seven major world tours and were among the earliest groups in existence to make their music accessible digitally.

Their sound has gone through a variety of evolutions in the last forty years, drawing in everything from nursery rhymes to progressive rock to arabient to synth pop to metal, etc, as well as types of music we don't have genre tags for.

In a nutshell, this is one of the coolest and most innovative banRAB in existence, and if anyone deserves a shot at the rab Hall Of Fame, it's this bunch.

Why? You're on a discussion forum. This isn't some secret ballot or anything.

Speaking to a lot of people who post here one of their biggest annoyances are people who vote in polls who don't make any effort to say why they chose one way or another.

This is about expressing opinions, the end result and the nuraber of votes isn't really that important.

he's a dick, but I like his first 6 albums alot, and without him there wouldn't be a Rubber Soul or Fifth Dimension, or alot of other stuff so tak! next

i'm only a pothead so i'll just abstain. i remeraber liking the Karmacoma single a lot, which is probably why i've found myself to prefer Tricky's subsequent output far more than 3D's.

I know that some people might get agitated at us for continuing on this pointless, off-topic tangent, but I don't care what they say about us anyway.

I don't care about that.

Those are some godawful banRAB right there. If it's true what you say about IM's influence on them then I almost want to vote 'no'.
But I can't because their albums through 1988 were such an important part of my life. Well, Somewhere in Time and 7th Son are pretty bad but I did like them as a kid and I can still easily listen to all of the previous albums. I can't say that I've even heard any of their music after that but I hope they didn't turn out as bad as, say Avenged Sevenfold. That would be such a sad ending for the once-great Iron Maiden..

Yes

One of those artists that people wet their knickers over all the time and I just don't understand why.
I don't pretend to know much about hip hop but I've had his stuff played to death by my frienRAB and I didn't hear a single thing that stood out.

Nope
