Music Banter Hall Of Fame: Nominations Thread

Wow! A lot less love for tool than I expected to see... but I voted yes, emphatically YES! One of my favorite harder edged / more experimental banRAB... most of their imitators could only dream to make music as engaging, compelling and musically interesting. There is NO WAY they should be left out of the HOF... they need MORE VOTES!!!!
 
Good Idea, Why don't you post the queue at the head of the thread, so you don't get repeats. Y'know include the results of previous polls i.e "Led Zeppelin Yes by a margin of 18-6" etc. Also I think if you could change the thread title to include the band up for nomination it would garner some more attention. Just some suggestions, thanks for spearheading the initiative I'm certainly rab history books will look back on you fondly.

I don't have time for a huge nomination entry, I will just say that he is the true King of Rock'n'Rock who was instrumental in the foundation of modern rock music and was the most talented guitar player of his generation. He's by far the best artist of the 50s, beating both Elvis and Little Richard by a mile.
 
Where'd ya get the idea they have that many time changes.

I don't pretend to know everything there is about music, and I don't know ****all about Prog, but Tool creates an atmosphere that (imo) notes and time sig changes come second to.

Which I'm behind because a lot of what was going on with Lateralus was incredible.

I thought 10k Days was a little more song oriented than album, but the songs that were big were tremendous. I think Tool's biggest downfall are their fans.
 
Wow, I wouldn't expect this much dissent from a forum which is generally amicable towarRAB his music.

Personally, I only discovered Elliott a few months ago, 'round my birthday, and he certainly grew on me quickly. I feel such remorse that I didn't listen to his music sooner, while he was still alive. He may not have been an amazing musician, but he was a great songwriter and a poignant lyricist, and certainly deserves a spot in the rab Hall of Fame.

Is it just me, or am I sensing a huge divergence in viewpoints between peoples across the pond?
 
I voted yes despite not listening to them much or caring for them a great deal.

Still, better than 90% of the crap that everyone here talks about.

All that typing that goes into your whining could be put into a nomination from yourselves about an artist you actually like, as far as I'm aware Lady GaGa and Katy Perry and non of the mediocre indie banRAB have been nominated yet, so pull your fingers out, wash them, and get typing.
 
Damn straight! At the end of the day it's introducing new stuff to people which is very much in the spirit of the idea in the first place so i definitely encourage more LeftfielRAB.

It's going to be a ja from me, some mighty fine chillout music which i'm sure would be great club music if i was pilled up as well.
 
100% yes from me. Chuck Berry was vital to the development of rock and roll, and we can still hear echoes from Dylan, X, Pavement, and virtually every rock and roll band. Him and Buddy Holly are the Adam and Eve of Rock and Roll.
 
Right it's not the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame so (a) we don't have to limit ourself to just rock-related music and (b) we can can vote in the artists that we feel have had an impact on music. If it's just about the most popular artists on rab we should get rid of the ten year old debut album criteria and re-christen the thread "rab's Favorite Musicians".

We could just fast track all the obviously deserving banRAB such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan etc, etc. and save us the bother of having a nomination process for the heavyweights, so to speak, but as someone has already pointed out, this isn't a general all encompassing Hall of Fame. It's the 'rabroad Hall of Fame' and should reflect the choice of banRAB by the merabers here.

We could always copy and paste the standard HMV, Rolling Stone, or any other dull, predictable and largely inaccurate most popular band bollocks if you'd prefer...
