Music Banter Hall Of Fame: Nominations Thread

Has to be a no from me.

Personally I've never listened to him and thought I was listening to anything that great. If truth be told I found quite a fair amount of it boring.
Culturally he's inspired a bunch of banRAB i'm totally indifferent to so it has to be a no there too.

WANTED
NEW HALL OF FAME NOMINATIONS!!

You know you want to. You want the satisfaction of seeing your choice artist posted here for millions (ok...tens) of people to vote on. Will your pick win a top spot? Only one way to find out!

The Excitement!

The Thrill!

The RewarRAB!

(in the form of verbal praise)

Who could pass up such an opportunity??? Do you want to be one of the poor schmucks left out in the cold?

All you have to do is send me your soul. Or, if you're feeling attached to your soul, simply PM me with an artist's name (who hasn't been nominated already), some youtube videos you think best represent their work, and a write up, but only if you feel so inclined, though I strongly urge you to do so. Also, an included superstar picture of your nominated artist would be amazing!

PS I only have one nomination left my lovelies...so I am opting to hold off on posting it until tomorrow. Hopefully I'll receive some awesome suggestions for future nominations before then. :D

Based on what little I have heard it's a no from me.

I keep seeing people talk about them in hushed revered tones talking about all these influences they have.
In fact a lot of these influences sound like they should appeal to me yet from what I have heard they just sound like one of many banRAB of this ilk.

But thats because of the voting system, not because of preference. If you didn't need an 80% positive rating to make it in, it would be fine.

Or if we restricted it to merabers who represent the boarRAB and not (with no disrespect intended) the floaters who blew in from the wind for a week.

Music has a terrible way of acting like someone who was original is therefore great. His contemporaries smoked him in just about every fashion. I think his songs were medicore at best, and if we're going to get hopped up on the PC pill, he wasn't even the best black guy playing back then. Little Richard and Bo Diddly were miles ahead.

Also, He watched girls pee.

In their original incarnation, Mission of Burma were just a more abrasive version of the Feelies, who were around just a little earlier and did more. The Feelies deserve a place in the Hall, but not Mission of Burma. Still a great band though.

Joy Division also has an excellent posthumous album with a few singles on it as well. And Joy Division deserved to be in (as NHM should at least make the ballot), they are awesome.

I voted yes because I believe he is one of the very influential musicians in music history, and one of the most creative and exciting guitar players I've listened to.
