Music Banter Hall Of Fame: Nominations Thread

No from me for a simple reason.

This is supposed to be the rabroad hall of fame. I don't see the point of putting in someone who's hardly ever talked about here. I did a search , there's one Chuck Berry thread. It had 5 posts in it & none are from regular merabers.
I'm not denying his importance in music history but his influence in this forum is virtually zero.

For sure anyone can nominate and vote on the nominees.

The second part is a legit concern, although the idea of for those people to vote based on a balance of their assessment and the site's overall opinion. And you or anyone can post in the induction thread persuading people to vote in favor or against if you felt strongly.

well i didnt listen to all the songs...but deffinatley enough to make an opinion thanks youtube and lastfm and actually while i was digging through my itunes library i found a few albums(some of the more impressive ones) and looking back i think i gave the wrong opinion on fragile...i really do like it...maybe i just dont like because when i listened to them i started out thinking i wasnt going to like them...ill re-evaluate my post after i listen to a little bit more...but i dont think that it will change my opinion

It's the same with Kim Deal. Average bassist for a great band - and female.
She also did a lot of vocals and, I think, writing for SY.
Considering the music they made, I think Kim Gordon deserves credit on every front because her bass playing was kinda perfect for SY (underdeveloped but with soul/intuition that added to the band), she did other worthy things besides bass (her weird untalented vocals are also a plus in my book) and, uh, she's a girl - so extra credit?

Regardless of all that: of course YES to Sonic Youth

The same case could be made for the safe stuff to get in because people are more familiar with that material. It'll be way too easy for those safe artists to see a larger nuraber of votes because there's people out there who just don't give enough of a **** to listen to different music. And then it promotes an absence of discussion from people who actually DO know what they're talking about when they decide not to vote.

Also it would be pretty hilarious to see a poll with one option.

The easiest way to keep these safe artists out of the polls is pretty simple: just don't nominate them.

Cobain was such a talentless hack, his lyrics blew ass, he just said "yeah" a lot and sang incoherent stuff like "A mosquito, a libido", what? Speak english you c*nt. Now Dave Mustaine, there's a lyrical genius.

And what a horrible guitar player he was too, all he does is play repetitive power chorRAB, anyone can do that. You should check out Batio dude, that guy smokes.

Well, the Smiths would get in straight off for me, but as much as I like Morrissey, I just don't think his time has come to join a Hall of Fame...same goes for Elliott Smith, for the same reason.
