most upsetting scene in a movie

Well the scene in question is essential really, as it's the source of the 'vengeance'. It's the final film in the trilogy, 'Sympathy for Mr Vengeance', 'Oldboy' and then this one.

Oldboy is the best in my opinion. All Korean films and all very good films.

I know its wrong but in 'Switchblade Romance", after the completely horrific and disgusting and grotesque deaths previously, the boys death was almost a relief. You knew he was gonna die. At least it wasnt as vile as the throat slitting, or the head beneath the bannisters.

And I agree with the poster who talked about the last image in "The Blair Witch". That was truly frightening.

I have to say, I have not watched any of the films mentioned here and from what I have read, it doesn't look like I am going to now. I will add to this thread and say that the Tina Turner biog-movie What's Love Got To Do With It? was quite tough to watch...The abuse she suffered made me quite ill. He really was a vile man and not even a man at that!

The film "Sometimes a great notion" the Paul Newman/Henry Fonda film about a family of Oregon loggers has a scene that gave me nightmares for weeks !

Paul Newman's brother is trapped under a log in the river, slowly drowning. He reaches up to Newman desperately several times to indicate he neeRAB him to come under and breathe into his mouth .... and the final time .... when he knows it's all over, he reaches up and strokes his cheek instead

Not just disturbing, but heartbreaking !

The scene in Sleepy Hollow where the headless horsemen goes into the home with the little lad and his parents and hunts down the kid whos under the floorboarRAB

I agree with Wolf Creek. That was the first film in many years that has made me feel ill. The first scene with the girl tied up was horrific and i thought her acting was superb. It was that scene more then the 'head on a stick' one that got me.

Again - American History X - teeth, curb - ouch! Even the thought of biting a curb puts me on edge!

Kill Bill 2 - eye ball. Not good. My friend and I actually yelled at that point.

There's a horror film and I can't remember the name of it - but a girl gets grabbed on the other side of a door and a spliter of wood is pushed into her eye. Hated that (i'm sure she wasn't best pleased either)

When I as young one of the scenes that haunted me for years as a kid and traumatised me was in The Dark Crystal when the horribly baddie things kicked the little dog down the never ending hole to its certain death......!

Also in The Neverending Story i was disturbed by the scene when the white Unicorn drowned in the sinking mud and the little boy was desperately trying to pull it out to no avail.

I've since matured. (a little!)

Those 'infamous' scenes in-

Leon
Hannibal
Heavenly Creatures
Reservoir Dogs (an overrated gratuitus gore fest)
Nil By Mouth
Gangster No 1
Watership Down
Fun (actually, that whole film was horrible)

Don't particularly find any of these upsetting as such, just disturbing.

The "Hobbling" scene in Misery really got to me the first time i watched it. Now i watch it again it's quite funny but very cruel. Annie Wilkes is a fantastic villian though.

Also their fight scene at the end where he squashes her eyes in with his thumbs and her eyes bleed and then he samshes her head on the floor and fills her mouth with burning paper!

She had it coming!

Oh yeah, I remember that!! Always used to upset me that bit! Also the bit in Sleepers when the kiRAB get abused by the prison guarRAB, always turns my stomach but its such a good film.
