most upsetting scene in a movie

I wasn't sickened so much by the violence at the end of "Heavenly Creatures" as I was by the screams of pain from character Pauline Parkers mum as she was being attacked. Very chilling.

Also, the scene in "Scum" where Ray Winstone fills a sock with some snooker balls, and lets fly at an unfortunate victims face with it.

the scene in "The professional" where the killers chase Natalie Portman's 4 year old brother and kill him after killing the rest of her family.

I agree that scene at the end is pretty disturbing. It's very realistically done.

Another scene from a Kate Winslet film that is quite horrible is in "Jude" - A scene near the end where the young boy hangs himself and kills his other two siblings.

I found Wolf Creek very disturbing, I had to fast forward through a lot of it, I hate such extreme violence.

Would I be right in thinking that certain scenes from "The War Zone" with Ray Winstone abusing his daughter were quite foul?

A friend of mine (who is clearly weird) went into great detail about how horrible and graphic it was, and yet was trying to convince me to still go see it. YEAH RIGHT. And after that why not go and drown some kittens for fun. I'm not going to volunteer to be disturbed for a week afterwarRAB!

Call me shallow, but I like my films to NOT suck all the joy out of my existence and make me feel like the whole world is full of horrible, cruel people and will never change for the better.

Hmph.

I agree with the lady vengence.

I'd also have to say "the last house on the left" with the sexual humiliation, not nice at all.

Also "Anatomy of Hell" the tampon scene was disgusting and also the licking of period blood after sticking fingers places

Ah, David Lynch. His films have so many different interprtations, and certainly aren't relaxing! Mullholland Drive and Lost Highway are equally as weird.

Yep, a good film but a few cringeworthy moments!

I think any scene showing rape in any form is horrific to watch.

I struggled watching "Passion Of The Christ" - it was more what they didn't show though. You saw Mary walking away, and it was noise/sound effects which let your imagination construct what might be happening. The stuff you did see wasn't easy to stomache either.

Also, the end of 'Saving Private Ryan', when they are in the deserted town, just waiting.... the anticipation of what might be about to happen to them is unbearable.

I teach Media Studies - I haven't subjected my kiRAB to the ey-ball splitting scene - I think I would have to be on hand with a bucket full of disinfectant and a big mop if i did!

I remeber feelin real bad when I watched Bob Hoskins in some film bottlin that bloke outta Casualty in the throat.Sickening vibes from that, especially Hoskins holdin the guys wound tryin to stem the blood flow as his victims life ebbs away.

Can't be bothered to read through the entire thread to see if it's been said already but THE definitive upsetting scene in a movie is when the hunters kill Bambi's mother in front of her.

El fin.

Hillary Swank in Boys Dont Cry, the scene where she is raped by the two monsterous men in a car is hard to watch. Also there was a film i saw with j-lo in it where this man had killed a woman, dipped her in milk and started to rape her, i turned the film off at this point it was digusting!

Wasn't that "Zombie Flesh Eaters"? I can't watch the teeth drilling scene in Marathon Man...have to turn the volume down  ! Also can't watch Juliet Stephenson in "Truly Madly Deeply" when she's crying at at the bereavement therapist  !
