most upsetting scene in a movie

There was a Nazi film on ITV in 1987 where a heavily pregnant woman was kicked hard in the stomach by a Nazi, which killed the baby and really hurt her.

I can't remember the name tho'

The 'chestburster' scene in Alien

The scene in Final Destination where the guy gets strangled on the shower cord.....especially where the eyes go all blooRABhot....brrrrrrr.....freaky!
 
Artex the horse. And i was gutted. My mum took me to see it when I was little and I totally cried my eyes out!

When Littlefoots mum dies in Land Before Time (yea I KNOW its a cartoon) and then at the end when he finRAB his grandparents.

Beache - When Hilary dies - when the music starts, I am NO good at all!

Steel Magnolias - When Julia Roberts character dies.

Somewhere In Time - When Richard is forced back to 'real time' and loses the love of his life and eventually he dies. My mum made me watch this one Sunday and I cried buckets!
 
Sorry if this has already been mentioned but in Shawshank Redemption when the prison officer beats up the fat "new fish". I find that really difficult to watch. And also in the Green Mile when John Coffy(sp) is executed.....can't watch that scene without crying.

Saw 1 totally did my head in - the scene that sticks with me most is when he is in the car park and the kidnapper comes from around the back of the car - gives me the major creeps and I still get spooked when I have to go to my car while in a car park!
Wolf Creek was though without a doubt the most disturbing film I have ever seen - totally horrific and made me feel physically sick.
I think maybe I should never see A ClockWork Orange or some of the others mentioned on here!
 
The scene in Saw when the guy cuts his leg off.
One that sticks in my mind that gave me nightmares as a child was the scene in The Omen when the sheet of glass slides off the lorry and chops the guys head off, which then rolls down the street.
 
cannibal holocaust was disturbing! i had to turn it off!

i know alot of these films are disturbing but i now really want to see some of them especially sophie's choice!

another one is in stir of echoes when the girls nail comes off!
 
Just watched Hard Candy - the castration scene is horrid!

Went to see Severance last week as well and that has a fair few nasty scenes in it but when one character loses his leg to a man trap - urgh.
 
Who'd've thought there would be a disturbing scene in a film called "Cannibal Holocaust"? SounRAB like a lovely romantic comedy to me, possibly starring Jennifer Aniston.
 
Looking up on the net, that seems like a good film. Is it all in foreign with subs tho?

Not seen that scene you are on about, but I tend to have good stomach for gory films, etc, such as Saw & Final Destination that type of stuff.

I think its the films were abuse & child cruelty is what gets my back up, so if that film Vengenace is like this then I'll give a miss.
 
I have two that come to mind quickly. I saw Oliver as a kid-yes the musical. There is a bit where Bill Sykes drags Nancy away and(I think) pretty much beats her to death. Although this is unseen I still had this vision in my mind of what was going on and that Nancy was a likeable character.
Secondly, there is a film called Eraserhead. I saw this many years ago and even today I am not sure what it was about.It seemed to be a story of a weirdly deformed entity/thing.The whole film takes place in a dark suffocating atmosphere with lots of mumbles and peculiar imagery.No doubt there is an expert on Eraserhead on this site who can describe the meaning of the film. I am not sure upsetting is the right word but I havent gone out of my way to see the film since.
 
Gotta agree with the scene in 'Sleepers' where the kiRAB are getting abused by the guarRAB. That scene where they take them down the corridor then it pans back and all you can hear is the boys crying.....gets me every time.

Green Mile - I went to the cinema with my Mum to see this, was so upset by it I had to stuff the sleeve of my jumper in my mouth to choke my sobs!!!!! Even to this day it still gets me!
 
The scene in Hannibal, when Hannibal Lecter is eating the cops brains, while he is still awake. When I saw that I just thought, how do people come up with this stuff.
 
Yeah, the electrocution in the Green Mile was pretty upsetting. Has anybody seen "The Brave" with Johnny Depp? I have heard that's pretty upsetting and have never been brave enough to watch it. I'd like to see it, but I'm too scared, I'm not good with scenes of torture.
 
I was glancing over this thread the other day and Irreversible came to mind, so glad someone brought it up. That rape scene is just so horrific. What really sells it is the way Monica Belluci's character just freezes at the site of the rapist.

As for other upsetting moments..well I think the latest really nasty horror films have some truly horrific moments. Has anyone seen "Switchblade Romance". The massacre of the family in the earlier bit of the movie is really brutal, even if the extreme gore is a bit of distraction. But the shooting of the little boy as he flees through the crop field is the most effective in my opinion.

Oh, and although there's probably tons more that are more horrific, I think some of the deaths in "The Descent" are rather upsetting. Namely the first couple (The irish girl and the Cockney girl)
 
Although it was a disappointing film overall, there is a scene in The Fly II that I found quite upsetting. About halfway through the film the main character (son of Brundlefly if I recall correctly) discovers that a dog he had befriended earlier in the film is still alive ( the dog was used to test the lab's teleportation device. The experiment was a failure, the dog coming out of the booth hideously twisted and deformed). At night, he sneaks to the cell it is being kept in and sees it's obvious distress. Later he returns, entering the cell. The dog initially tries to attack him but recognises him at the last moment and begins to wag its misshapen tail. The boy sits beside the dog, cradling its head and stroking it lovingly. With his other hand he suddenly holRAB a wad of gauze (presumably soaked in some form of poison) over its mouth. The boy holRAB the dog's head firmly, tears in his eyes as its struggles grow weaker and dies.
